Although the St. Andrews Blockhouse is a rather small attraction it's definitely worth visiting so that you can learn more about the history of the area as well as explore the beautiful natural surroundings at the Blockhouse.
There are plenty of historical signs that will give you more information about the history of Saint Andrews as well as of the Blockhouse itself, so it's a great place to check out if you're interested in history or you just want to admire the historic wooden structure.
There aren't any other blockhouses left in the area so it's also pretty unique as well.
One of the highlights of visiting the Blockhouse is that you are able to take advantage of a beautiful view and if you visit during low tide you can walk quite far out onto the beach.
Overall, I would definitely recommend visiting the Blockhouse if you're going to be in Saint Andrews.

I am a big history buff, and when I saw the Blockhouse, I immediately had to stop by to take a look. The fiancee on the other hand, does not like history, it's something that does not interest her.
She stayed in the car as I went to explore and read about the history. As I was reading some of the signs, a nice parks employee stopped by and started talking to me about the history or the area. Very interesting that this area is so close to the Americans and yet it wasn't heavily protected.

Reality: finding the entrance and warmly being welcomed in by two docents. Inside are two floors staged with the living quarters and uniforms of the soldiers who would have manned the base. It's designed as a pretty hands-on experience.
Side notes: parking's available right in front and in a little side lot. We parked here and walked down Water St. to find a bite to eat. In the heat of summer, it was a bit of a walk from here.
