2nd update: My experiences after the update below have been substantially better, and haven't had any service issues since. It was likely just the specific waitress that made the experience poor, and I haven't run into that issue again. Please enjoy dining here! Update: Unfortunately my second time at this resturaunt was not as great as the original review, which has lead me to alter the rating. I have dietary restrictions, and made my order a little complicated, but that didn't seem to be an issue at the moment. I asked for the chicken burger but without the bun and bacon on the side. The food was great, but unfortunately barely warm... but the service was horrendous. I didn't receive the bacon so I had asked about it, then she brought back two (cooked) cold pieces of bacon that you could tell weren't even heated up because the fat was solid and white. After that we were not checked on at all. We had to flag her down to even get boxes and I asked if they usually serve bacon cold like that. She said, "well it's cooked" to which I said well I would've hoped so, but its cold. When paying, she handed the machine to me and left. Didn't come back to offer me the receipt. Luckily, I didn't need it. Very hit or miss with this place unfortunately because I had such a great experience the first time. Origional: Such a great place! Decided to stop in and try the gables for the first time, because my son is a very picky eater and it's the first place we found that has fries (lol) The staff was exquisite. First thing the gentleman did was shake my kids hand, and they loved it. My kids don't usually like people. We were seated outside, and it was lovely. It had just rained so a lot of the patio was roped off, only cause it was slippery & wet, but the view was still amazing. So peaceful. My kids, like usual, wouldn't listen and were running around, but the staff were so patient and polite. The food was quick, delightful, delicious, and hot! Kids got the chicken fingers and fries and I couldn't help but steal bites. I got a chicken burger and salad, and oh my God it was amazing - it was grilled chicken, with a beautiful bun. All around amazing. 100% recommend this place.

The size of The Gables on Water St. can be deceiving from the front, quite a large dining room and beautiful patio. Most importantly, the food was more than delicious at the correct temperature. I was worried from another review stating that the portions were too small, they are NOT. We absolutely recommend the seafood chowder and the "Thai Seafood" (nice portion of shrimp, fish and scallops with green curry and vermicelli - not spicy at all). The service was excellent i.e., The head waiter asked several tables if the food and everything was OK, which I think makes a difference; customers can borrow a blanket if the weather is not optimal outside; we received recommendations from our waiter on which beer to look out for while in the province.

We had the grilled chicken burger with side salad and a burger with fries. We choose this spot because we were very hungry and needed food asap. We were then happily surprised that our dishes were delicious! Well above the average for what we ordered (the only downside were the fries because I personally do not like coated fries). What a fantastic relaxing patio and view!!!! Seating was slow, the place needs some love, care, cleaning, and updates! However, all was forgiven because the patio is magic, our food was good, and our server was working really hard to make sure everyone was treated well.

Beautiful spot with an outdoor patio overlooking the water. The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated with a nautical theme. Bathrooms are small and crowded. I'm not sure if there is a wheelchair accessible bathroom, but the regular bathrooms would be too small and crowded for anyone needing accessibility or extra room. Most people at our table ordered the fish and chips and were happy with their meal. I had the soup and sandwich of the day, which was a BLT and corn chowder. The sandwich was ok but very small and barely looked like it had anything inside. The corn chowder was pretty bland and runny for a chowder, although I've found most East Coast chowders are more of a soup consistency, so for locals it might be acceptable. One person ordered the fish taco. They said the taste was good, but it was served as a wrap, not a taco. Our server was great and wait times were fine , but the table beside us had a long wait and watched tables that came if after them served their food first. When they asked a different server it wasn't handled well, in my opinion, but she did relay the inquiry. When their server finally did check on them they were told one order was up and they other was being cooked, which made the couple concerned they would recieve one cold plate. Again they were treated somewhat dismissively. If I had received the the same level of service as that couple did, I probably would have walked out and gone somewhere else, but I don't believe that to be a regular issue based on what I have seen in my 2 visits and my personal experience and will conitnue to visit when I am...

Customer service was excellent. My girlfriend and I were there yesterday after visiting kingsbrae gardens and I worked up quite the appetite. The inside dining room has an awesome rustic "fishing village" feel to it, and the patio is wonderful. My girlfriend and I sat on the patio just as the wind started to pick up and the waitress offered us BLANKETS. Never have I ever seen this kind of care for the customer in any of the restaurants I've ever been in. It was wonderful. Garlic bread with cheese appetizer was delicious, I simply wish we sat inside; because the winds cooled it down very quickly but when you're sitting on the coast what else can you expect! I promise the view of the coast is well worth it! I had the Bull burger (char broiled) which was very good (and I don't typically like char broiled burgers) the fries were excellent as well. My girlfriend had the lobster roll and was also very impressed. Fresh, delicious, and leaves you wanting more. We will definitely be back, all in all a fantastic Restaurant. What blew me away the most was that they offer blankets to people who might get cold on the patio, it's the epitome of "the customers...
