Went twice while I was in town. I get coffee every single day of my life and travel often. I hated this coffee shop for a couple of reasons.
iced matcha ~ i was handed a cup that was mostly milk with a hint of green to it. I asked for a bit more matcha and she said with an attitude, you need to pay for extra next time. this picture is the color AFTER i asked for extra, and it’s no where green enough. So do i have to pay for 3/4x extra matcha just for it to be made the right way?
next day i got an iced latte. I ordered four shots because they only give you one single shot in a small 12oz? Tasted horrible.
but the main thing that was the last straw.. there was a woman pouring a very small amount of milk from the bar for her baby into a bottle.. couldn’t have been more than 2 or 3 ounces. The barista with pink hair in a short pony tail was beyond rude. “You can’t take that milk, that costs us money” with the BIGGEST attitude. Embarrass the mom and dad. You have free milk at your counter, maybe that’s a situation you just let go. Also, what’s even more ridiculous, is that i sat and watched her make drink after drink, pouring way too much milk to heat up and then would pour out SO much down the drain… so you’re going to harp about a 2oz pour FOR A BABY, but then turn around and waste more than that from one latte you’re making for a customer?
Make it make sense.
Once they left, her and the other dark haired barista with glasses talked soooo much shit about them, didn’t even try to hide it. In front of other customers waiting for their drinks.
I own my own business and my husband owns 10 restaurants. We know customer service. This place ain’t it.
There’s a nice gentleman with long hair and a wonderful barista with long light brown hair, they are not included in this review. But unfortunately a few bad apples can ruin your establishment for sure.
Make your matcha actually taste like matcha. And have more precise and exact measurements for your drinks so you know how many ounces of milk go into each size. She couldn’t even tell me that. “How many ounces of milk do you put in a medium” “?!? Idk, we just fill it up.” Oh, okay great thanks.
Two positives, their bagel sandwich is very good and i really appreciate...
Read moreWe went to honeybeans twice during our short stay in St. Andrews. Wow… we were thrilled to have found this sweet spot on Water Street. The staff are pleasant and definitely an asset to their employer. Hummmm… the Chai Latte = excellent. Dark roast = exceptional. We had a chocolate raspberry muffin, cheese and bacon scones, and an orange muffin.. delicious. We were happy to hear that the baked goods were made on-site. Great place, great staff, great food, and GREAT value for your $$$$… We live 6 hours away, or you’d be seeing us everyday Honeybeans. Thank you…...
Read moreUpdated to May 2025. Remains one of my favorite places to visit. The food is really good, both the sweets and savories. The coffee is great, as one would expect. The main reason I like to go here is because of the staff. A fun and eclectic bunch who seem to actually like people... who knew! The prices have gone up over the years I have been a customer, but that is to be expected. I would say expect to spend around $20 per person for a light lunch, and around $10 for a fancy coffee and baked good. Plus their patio is dog friendly! A bonus for...
