5 STARS for the Consultation It took us about 3 years to finally decide to get our small kitchen a full reno and we went with Ikea cabinets after we did the online consultations with Viviana from Modus, which was a great help.
5 STARS for the Install Team The Modus install team arrived on schedule and were very professional. an inspection of the site was done first to ensure that it was ready. Goran and his team of Marco and Zoran finished our kitchen in one day and they worked great as a team. They took great care to ensure that it was done properly and they went above and beyond. The site was cleaned after the install and what a difference from the old kitchen. I can't say enough about the install team.
0 STARS for Modus Customer Service. The one thing I am not happy with is the way management handled a mishap that happened during the installation, which I found out after. Luckily I managed to isolate the problem area after it happened. I was very understanding of the situation and know things like that can happen and was very accommodating, No yelling or angry words were directed towards Modus when I reported it. We took it in stride. When the repair was being done, I asked if I could have a little addition done to the repair area to ensure peace of mind. As the member of management who was dealing with my case, the person should have taken into consideration how easy going and accommodating we were on the onset of this situation. Instead I was given the company line, NO, it was an improvement and Modus will repair the area as it was in its original state. At least I should have been told first, let me look into it and see what Modus can do. We should not have to yell and stomp to get what we want. Instead I had to bring up the fact that we were out of our 2 main bathrooms for 3 days, and so on........ The improvement I wanted: To have 2 access panels (5"x5") installed where the repair has been done, which has been approved now.
UPDATE December 19,2020 I waited till now to post an update.
I was advised that the finishing will be done October 16,2020. ie The painting of the repaired areas. Great job by Eloy, thank you for the great work.
You figure I would get a follow up call or email from Modus to ask if all is to my satisfaction but I was wrong. Again it shows that Modus as a company and their management staff has their head buried up their you know what to care about their customers. It’s a good thing the install staff are amazing.

Read moreIf you're a type-A person who loves to know exactly what is expected of you and your service provider, you definitely want to book Modus. I am that person and I loved that Modus had an online portal with all quotes, invoicing, scheduling for me to access. I loved that they had a ton of information to provide on what to do to prep the space, what their scope of work is, when to call the other trades (electrical, plumbing, flooring) and essentially how to make the kitchen renovation go as smoothly as possible. I followed all their guidelines, had them do the kitchen measurements, used them for the ikea kitchen planning service, and was thrilled when they asked to review the final ikea order to ensure we had everything we needed on install day.
On install day they showed up 15 minutes early! 5 guys got straight to work and by 6pm I had a 180 sq ft kitchen. I am so happy I didn't try and do this myself. My husband and I are fairly good at home renovations but the level of knowledge that the Modus team has about the entire Ikea line of products is unparalleled. We absolutely would have taken a month to do what they did in a day, and we would have made mistakes and damaged pieces because it would have been our first time. They did all the cutting out and modifications to the cabinet boxes and did an absolutely beautiful install. I am a picky person - and they were very understanding when I surreptitiously wandered over to one of the drawers and put a level on the handle because it looked off-level - they just chuckled and told me they hadn't adjusted them yet. Every single handle and pull was level and centered. At the end of the work day they cleaned up and left the space spotless.
There were a couple things that needed a revisit because the plumbing was in the way and they came back and took care of it and were easy to communicate with. At the end of the entire experience, the price was actually slightly lower since there were a couple things that they had anticipated needing to happen that didnt.
The one thing that was surprising was that we were left with a lot of left over, over-ordered ikea parts which when we returned resulted in a refund of almost $2k. Read moreWell folks ,they say better late than never . My belated review bears no reflection whatsoever on Modus ,but merely ones busy life and daily distractions. I’m sure that most can relate. Especially when a renovation is involved . A little background history is warranted at this time . 5 years ago we had a complete kitchen renovation. Brought down to the studs . Enter Modus . They gave us a brand new IKEA kitchen ,and in 1 Day !!! We were so impressed to say the least .We did express how pleased we were with Modus but failed to put it in writing . So we hope to make up for it now with this review. This summer we decided to upgrade our kitchen with a wider fridge and replace some other defective appliances.Like everyone during Covid / Twilight Zone , home renovations and staycations are about the only thing left that’s safe to do . Something to focus on ,keep our minds off of other things and have some control back .But I digress. Re-Enter Modus .We weren’t sure what to expect from them during Covid. Cue Deeanna. She guided us through the ENTIRE project : From online consult sessions ,up-teen phone calls and emails ( always promptly replied I may add) , IKEA lingo interpreter, measurement calculator ,finding stock during Covid shortages , and was forced into the role of councillor a few times lol ! She went above and beyond on many occasions. Inc. being a labour crew member ! Through it all ,she was calm , professional , always ready to find a solution.And trust me she was put to the test OFTEN. Along with IKEA stock shortages , was the nightmare of appliance canceled orders and back orders! Deeanna was able to roll with the punches and reschedule the crew. Cue Marko & Goran( not sure how to spell it sorry ) .What those 2 accomplished in 1 day was AMAZING! Marko had to come back but only because a door was damaged and had to be reordered. What a Superstar he was! Sorry for the novelette, but Modus merits the praise ! So in closing ,if you have any projects for your home , look no further than Modus ! They were able to put our mind at ease throughout the project . Including observing and respecting strict Covid protocol.We knew we were in good hands .And you will be too ! Only wish we had more rooms for Modus to work their magic in ;-)
