Where to start with this review. Its hard to really have to give a bad rating to a store that I felt was a place I would visit more often than not.
My experience begins back in May 2016. I had never been to a Canada Computers location, but with TigerDirect closing all its stores and Newegg not really having any physical locations - I thought I would give Canada Computers a try.
So, I was on a trip from home (northern ontario) to Wonderland in Vaughan. I had time to kill the evening before I went, so I decided to drive to Canada Computers and look at what was so great about their stores. I was actually in the market for a new router and a cheap laptop for Minecraft.
When I walked into the store - I was amazed by how cool it looked! Products everywhere! Cheap items everywhere! A real tech person's delight! So, I purchased a Dlink AC router (for 29$, excellent deal) and a Lenovo L430 (refurbished, Microcad was the refurbisher).
Here is where everything turns nasty. I brought the laptop home and realized that it had issues (wifi was broken, LCD was flickering and sound was garbled). So, I contacted Microcad as I had a warranty with them (see Microcad Computer Corporation for more details). I send the laptop to them and eventually they sent it back to me - not fixed. So I contact Canada Computers to see if I could send the unit back to them seeing as its broken and the refurbisher would not fix it properly. No. It was over the 14 days replacement only return policy. I asked them again and explained the situation. No. Just no. So, I sent a few more emails, however they stopped replying to them. I sent the laptop back to Microcad a second time and they did not fix it again. Again, Canada Computers said "no".
I was extremely frustrated and still am. I was expecting this location to become one of my more preferred places to stop and spend money on electronics on vacation, but I guess I will keep shopping at Newegg and Best Buy because this company really does not care what they sell you.
I would...
Read moreI am so tired of this store. Unfortunately there isn't too many places out there to buy computers anymore so we are forced to deal with these people. We spend approximately 12-15k at this store every year and every time it is with disappointment.
This time I order a custom unit. Their staff was very helpful to select the parts necessary to build the computer. I needed a small home computer that would be pretty good for day to day work. My once condition is that I wanted the computer to be white. It sounds funny but I was trying to go with a theme. I showed him a case I found. Aproximetly 14 inches tall. I was suggested another case and I went with it. Long story short we built the machine. When I went to pick up the machine my new 24 inch high case didn't fit anywhere in my office. As apposed to the small case I wanted.
Next he sold me a Bluetooth keyboard to go with the machine. Forgetting that the there isn't any Bluetooth in the build.
I went back and got a wired keyboard, and when I asked to return the keyboard that was sold to me that doesn't work, I was charged a restocking fee.
Then I went to buy a speaker, because no sound was in the build. I now installed a Bluetooth adapter, so I bought a Bluetooth speaker suggested to me by the same salesperson. Turns out it is not Bluetooth, but wired and the on board sound was disabled on the build.
So I went back to get a sound card to install. I opened up the massive case I was sold and the mother board that I was suggested only has 3 slots total. Keeping in mind that the case is twice the size of the board, so I cannot install the sound card because there is no slots available.
Every time I have an issue with them selling me the wrong product they charge me restocking. This is a joke. If you sell me a keyboard with the computer that is not compatible, then why are you charging me to take it back.
Someone please suggest be a good computer place, so I don't ever have to...
Read moreI used to come here to purchase ink for my printer because of the good cost. I purchased a cartridge yesterday and it was faulty, my printer wasnt reading it, but it read all my other empty cartridges (to rule out it isnt my printer thats the problem).
I recorded this evidence to bring to the store, having a good feeling they would give me a problem when it comes to returning the product. Of course - I was right. The two men at the customer service return/repair station were very rude, didnt even apologize that it was faulty, nor bothered to listen to me. They kept saying "go home and call HP, theyll help you". What type of service is that? If i purchase a product from your company, you should help me accordingly, and if it is defected, offer a return or exchange like most stores do. I never am one to argue with a store but the fact that they werent understanding and were disrespectful angered me, especially since $50 was spent. They even kept saying "go to staples". Um..give me my $50 back and maybe then I will go to Staples for BETTER service.
I stood there for 30 minutes hearing the same thing to go home and call HP myself. If you have a no return policy on ink, then your cashiers should reinforce that policy during checkout AND YOU SHOULD INCLUDE IT ON THE RECEIPT BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING THERE PERTAINING TO INK.
I finally received my refund, but I will definitely be avoiding this place. Ive gone to Bestbuy and Staples whove both efficiently exchanged and returned defected ink cartridges without such hassle and disrespect.
Maybe if they were more professional and respectful - as well as enforcing their policy via receipts/cashiers during checkout -I would've complied.
