Insane wait times (1 to 2 hours) on the Plunge and Super Soaker raft slides. These two parallel slides each have two loading bays to keep things moving. The second bay wasn't being used on each slide, and the slides weren't even being run in parallel: they were slowly being interleaved at a cadence much slower than even than the time for a raft to go down and all the riders to leave the pool.
Most of the rafts were sitting unused at the bottom so there were functionally only one or two rafts in use, and the typical delay between rafts included half the time for a raft to come up the elevator, as they were only sending up a single new raft when one came down. Sometimes the wait was longer, with a raft sitting at the ready, both slides and pool clear, waiting riders, and nobody sent down for minutes. It wasn't lack of staff: there were half a dozen at the top, mostly milling around, doing little.
Either they have incompetent logistics, there is some subtle technical problem with the raft elevator, or they received weird advice from a liability management consultant. Whatever it is, these slides need to be closed until the problem is addressed. Running them as-is shows complete disrespect for guests.
Apart from this, the place was way too packed and bureaucratic to be fun. There was even a massive line to get into the lazy river and it had all kinds of overbearing rules about life jackets, and height and age restrictions. My son's feet slipped out of a ring on one slide and he was taken aside and interrogated by several employees who needed to file an "incident report" about the ride malfunction (he was totally unhurt and even enjoyed the slide).
Wet 'n' Wild is also pretty bad, but better run than this and also has...
Read more$25 locker rental on a quiet evening and i made it on 2 slides in 3 hrs. Its not worth it. On the raft slide people were standing at the bottom holding all the rafts and chatting while the huge line waited. On the tube rides each only had 6 or so tubes for everyone and others were pushed to the side not being used so huge lines and waiting for people to climb the stairs. All-round just go to a pool with a slide so you can go down several times. Also, several slides were out of service. When walking through the park i noticed several rides also were. Security wasn't even checking bags at the entrance. They seem very poorly staffed. The comments about waiting a long time for a 30 s slide seemed accurate to me. Muskoka plunge had one girl up to top and a long wait between sliders. And people kept cutting in line all over the place, but there were no wonderland employees around to do...
Read moreOne hand doesn't know what the other is doing there because Splash Works, despite being located IN the St. Mary's Quarry, is not affiliated with them at all. So be sure if you call with questions that you're speaking to the right people. If they tell you that you don't need a reservation, you do. It's often sold out and it can be quite a drive home with disappointed kids if you don't buy in advance. I would even suggest calling the day before to ensure they have your reservation because, despite having one the second time we tried to go, it wasn't on file when I called the day before.
It can be really frustrating to figure it all out, but it is a lot of fun when you're on the inflatables and everyone had...
