The best heat-preserving structure you can find in Waterloo. What kind of genius designer made such apartments that preserve a room temperature at 29 degree Celsius when outside is only 18 degree Celsius.
You must get a full year lease here if you want to contribute something to a carbon neutral tomorrow. Rez-one has been dedicated into reducing carbon emission by not providing AC cooling at their promised date in summer (which is today! yeah!) and disabling heating system for Fergus House for the entire winter.
They also made these apartments airtight even when you open your window. There won't be any air flow around your window even when trees were bended by the strong gale before a thunderstorm, must be the safest place during a gas war. What a good way to commemorate WWI!
The construction yard right next to Blair House, Fergus House and Hespeler House will wake you up at 8.30 a.m. precisely! Best place to live in if you love morning classes.
Rez-one, the BEST apartment you can find in UW region!
----------------------after their reply------------ Though they claim that they turned on AC on May 26th, i measured the temperature of several different AC outlet, room temperature and the temperature at the window when outside is 18 degrees Celsius. The only ac outlet that's cooling is the one in the corridor blowing at 19 degrees, the rest of them in your suite just give back what ever you've already have in your room.
Have some faith in your constructions, they preserved a room temperature at 28 degree days before when it was only 2 degrees outside. They didn't turn on heating for entire winter yet successful meet their 20...
Read moreI lived at Blair for 2 years and I think it's the best option for students that are willing to pay. First & foremost, the location is unmatched. Directly across from E5 & E7, in-building access to Sharetea & Ken Sushi, & near many restaurants. Blair also has pool tables, a study area, a laundry area, and a gym. If you ask the Fergus security/reception, you can get access to their larger gym. Blair House also has several other features that I think give it an edge over ICON (where I've also lived): bright interiors, en-suite washrooms, and large rooms no carpets (my ICON floor carpet smelled like lasagna & barf for a month) large in-suite common area (a proper table to eat at) and sofas to hang out with roommates wifi included
I had a few concerns while living at Blair but in general, my problems were quickly solved by building management. These issues are likely to arise anytime you live in a shared building (e.g. fruit flies from neighbours leaving trash out, gym equipment getting broken). It was beneficial to build a relationship with building management (in particular the property manager, Grace). I recommend Blair House to any of my friends because of its excellent location, facilities, and comfortable living...
Read moreWifi is horrible in 256 Philip Street, Waterloo. The support don't give attention (even if you write to them - they can't fix it), as if they already know they can't fix it. The wifi router is located @ ground floor and is being shared among all the apartments (21 floors) using wifi extenders. I mean, that's never gonna work (go, read something about internet technology). FYI, they don't allow anyone to install their personal home internet too. there is no ethernet port available in any suite for wired connection.
The coin laundry system (Coinamatic) - The washers are the smallest in size I ever saw in my life. It depends on your luck if the washer/dryer or works or not because if it does not work - nobody is gonna refund your money. It may sound like you are raising your service requests in a blackhole.
The room when I moved in was in pathetic condition. I complained but no action. Ultimately I was forced to stay for 4 months as I did not have a new play to live and I had already paid. (Pictures attached)
Above comment is just out of my personal real experience. Hope it helps people to decide where to invest their money for the...
