My favourite Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant in town, hands down!! Actually, it's pretty much my favourite restaurant in town, never mind Indian! Whenever I'm thinking of places to go for lunch or dinner, Kismet is always on the short list, and very often wins. I've been to many, many Indian restaurants, both locally and abroad, and while I've certainly had some great experiences, Kismet holds a unique place in my heart (and stomach!).
Excellent food and very friendly service. The curries are varied but all wonderful -- the samba, pathia and korma are particular favourites of mine. And the naan is the best I've ever had -- flavourful and not greasy. I am thoroughly addicted, to the point where I'm there so often Abu named a dish after me :) (the 'Jon Evans Special' is where it's at, folks!). People can argue all they want about how 'authentic' the food is. All I know is that it's damn good and I haven't found anything else like it.
I see a few negative reviews here...don't believe 'em! Between Kismet and their former establishment, I've been eating their food for over 10 years and have never had a bad experience with food, service or anything else (except maybe with the Chicken Bangalore, which is insanely hot!!! Full disclosure, though: I was duly warned). And the comments that the staff are 'racist'? Pure rubbish. I'm a super white boy and I've always been treated like gold and I've never seen anyone else treated any less hospitably in the time I've been going there.
In summary, I can eat wherever I want and I choose Kismet.
In fact, I'm going there right now! See...
Read moreI recently visited Kismat restaurant located in the University Plaza and I must say, it was an amazing experience. The restaurant offers authentic Bangladeshi cuisine and all their meats are halal, which is a big plus for me. I love the taste of halal meats more.
Before covid I used to to eat there monthly , I have enjoyed their lamb curries and lamb biryani. The meats were tender, juicy and flavorful, and the spices were just right. They also made fresh naan, which was soft and fluffy, and some delicious beverages like mango juice, which tasted homemade.
Although Kismat restaurant is on the slightly expensive side, I believe the taste and quality of food is worth the price. And recently, they added a loyalty plan that makes it even better. If you commit to pay $40 monthly, you get a 10% discount and a free beverage (the mango juice is definitely worth it!). This makes it easier for customers to enjoy the same quality food without having to worry about the cost.
Overall, I highly recommend Kismat restaurant to anyone who is looking for authentic Bangladeshi cuisine with halal meats. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the loyalty plan is a nice added bonus. Give it a try and you won't be...

I've been going to kismet for a while now. I don't usually like eating Indian outside, I'm very picky, but kismet food always leaves me feeling good! Their service is great. They customize the heat level by pallette. They're timely even when their restaurant is full. I also appreciate the extra mile they go in service, once bringing me compimentary dates when I was fasting (which I traditionally use to break fast and is not usually available at resutarants).
So I decided to try kismet for an event. They were really accommodating. They agreed to start their work day earlier so I can take boxed meals for about 50 people early in the day. They were timely with their correspondence, emails and phone calls and had the food ready right on time. We were nervous about Indian being too hot for the assortment of taste pallettes the event had. They gave us a variety of yogurt, Curry, and their in house hot sauce, complimentary, so that anyone could customize it for themselves. They gave us a complimentary ride to carry all the food too. And...
