Ascott IFC Guangzhou — Attraction in Guangzhou City

Today I had an experience with the front dest customer service where they inconsistently applies charges to breakfasts. They never charged my son before and on this particular stay it is the Canton fair. Because of the influx of people they now decided to charge the breakfast fee. I phoned the front desk to explain and they just referred to their policies not listening to may complaint of inconsistency. Later he transferred me to a second person which the assistant explained the sitution. This assitant asked me “how can I help you” acting like he had no idea. His english competancy was not strong as he asked me to repeat and speak slower. I decided that after breakfast I will go down to sort out the situation. When I arrived at the front desk, they showed me the policies, again not caring about the distrust formed due to the inconsistency intill I showed them my previous payments and bookings on paper. By this time the front desk person (Luo) who has been speaking to me in English, stopped making eye contact, put on his mask and refused to talk to me. He called another person over to tell me I should please wait for the manager. I was very uspet by the way I was treated. The manager tried to fix the situation by giving us the “half price” breakfast off to keep me as a loyal customer. The room was really nice, and our kids loved staying here. If you are traveling with a family, this is probably one of the best places to stay in GZ. There's a few areas they could improve: Unfortunately, when we visited, they were very busy and I waited 20 minutes to check-in. This was due to some inefficiency, as they only have 2 computers available for check-in. Installing some stanchions or retractable line barriers would be helpful, as I got skipped in line twice during that time. There were 4 employees helping with check-in, but it didn't help speed up the process, due to people skipping and due to the lack of computers available for check-in. ||The breakfast was not ideal. We actually skipped the breakfast our second day there because the first day we found only eggs, salad, cold cereal, and some pastries available. ||The pool was nice, but the hot tub was a cold tub with bubbles. ||The putting green was a very nice amenity; great fun for the whole family. Just a suggestion- only one putter was available. The rest of the clubs were 7 irons. Someone could easily knock a ball into a neighboring window with one of those I'd think? ||The robot butler was such a cool touch.
