Guomen Hotel — Hotel in Guangzhou City

A local friend of ours booked us this hotel which is across his apartment as a whole group of us are meeting up in Guangzhou. Without a local on the ground, it is very unlikely that we know how to book this hotel nor knowingly select this hotel. We only paid CNY470 a night with breakfast thrown in!!||||LOCATION||Zhejiang New Town. From Guangzhou East Railway station||||TRANSPORTATION ||By rail: From Guangzhou East Railway Station, you can switch to a metro and ||||By air: ||45 mins by taxi||||RECEPTION||A somewhat outdated extremely busy reception with busy and competent staff. Small lobby with a shop selling commemorative coins. The lower part of the building comprises of commercial offices and shop, including a bank.||||CONNECTIVITY ||Free Wifi is only available at the cafe. Rooms have broadband LAN cable if you have your notebook for free access.||||ROOM (Room 1059)||View: None||Noise level: double-glazed glass. Acceptable. ||Size of room:By China standards, average.||Finishing: Clean and relatively basic but age is showing ||Furnishing: classic wooden cupboards||TV: Toshiba Flat-screen TV.  ||Full length mirror: Yes. Standalone. ||Flooring : Brown Carpeting with prints. ||Mattress: Very hard. Typically of local beds in China. ||Sheets: white cotton. Clean and very flat pillows. We had to ask for extra pillows and duvet. ||Cupboards: Good size with removal hangers||Bedroom Slippers: Yes :)||Minibar: Empty fridge with a couple of cans of coca-cola.||Safe Deposit Box : Yes, digital||Kettle jug: Yes||Drinking Complimentary water: Yes||Stationary: Minimal||||BATHROOM||Huge. beige marble. Though age is showing, it is clean. ||Long bath: None. Huge shower compartment ||Shower pressure - Strong. It is a massage shower!! Pretty impressive!||Toiletries:  Basic soap, Shower gel & shampoo, toothbrush, and comb. If you are fussy on quality, bring your own.||Towels: Basic white - Clean||Bathrobe : surprisingly yes! Clean white plush terry cloth robes. ||Phone : Yes!||Hair dryer: Typical built-in hair dryer. Takes forever to dry your hair but better than none!||||BREAKFAST||From the buffet breakfast coupon, we have a decent spread  of both western and local breakfast, with a fruits corner. Local standards not international standards. You can order your omelette and even soup noodle. Overall, very greasy....||||OTHERS||Massage: On the 6th floor of same building, independently-operated. Very clean and reasonable. Bring your own aromatherapy massage oil else they charge CNY 68!! Unprofessional housekeeping:||-The house keeper asked me to help him to setup an extra bed. Really! what's the extra cost is for?||||Dated Facility ||- So there was only a shower without a bathtub, which is fine, but the shower was old and is for residential use. ||||Breakfast Waitress ||- I picked a table and put a bowl of soup onto it and left the table for something else. By the time I return to the table, my soup was gone and there were somebody else sitting there. I was pissed! but not as pissed as another Russian guy who uncounted the same. So it appears that they are expecting more people coming for breakfast and they are trying to arrange combined strangers to the same table to save space. REALLY!
