Huanghuagang Tomb of 72 Martyrs Road On March 29, 1911, the Tongmenghui led by Sun Yat-sen failed in an armed uprising in Guangzhou to overthrow the Qing government, and more than 100 core members died. Pan Dawei, a member of the Tongmenghui, risked his life to collect the remains of 72 martyrs and buried them in Huanghuagang. In 1918, patriots and overseas Chinese donated money to build this martyrs' cemetery in memory of the martyrs who died in the uprising. The top of the hill is the 72 martyrs' mausoleum, which is built with granite into a square tomb base.
