Generally speaking well appointed comfortable room. When I booked there was not other option but a double room with two beds.. It was described as a twin room, but I think the beds were slightly bigger than regular twin. I am one that does not like for people to come in my room, and I kept getting asked/disturbed even WITH the DO NOT DISTURB SIGN on the door, they kept knocking and or calling to ask fto clean room. Another thing, I was a wee bit under the weather my 1st day, so it was rather annoying to be disturbed, even IF they need to do their job. ||||Another thing... who knew that if you want ICE you need to call HOUSE KEEPING and not ROOM SERVICE? The first time I was referred to housekeeping, they were reasonably prompt. Next time contacting them directly after they banged on my door to ASK about cleaning (AGAIN!) I showed them the ice bucket, and there was a supervisor there with the cleaner, and the cleaner was jabbering and pointing that I already had ICE in the bucket. I then had to go get my glasses, take out the ice and SHOW her that I was going to use it, and there would then be NONE! ||||The breakfast area on top floor and THEN you have to walk up stairs. Once you have arrived, there is good variety.I saw where someone commented mostly Asian fare. I saw a good bit of western stuff.||||Someone mailed me something, and even though I was impressed that the the check smiling person told me that it had arrived, and I should go to concierge to collect, from then it took more than an act of God to find it, even though they were told what day it was mailed. My guide was there, and even speaking to the concierge in CHINESE did not help! Thought that was pretty bad.||||If you need cash, ATM is just next door, after you walk out, turn right and its there. Also a mini mart next to ATM did not take cards, but you can get your liqour and wine there for much...
Read moreAs we had requested a triple room, we weren't sure what we would get. We were pleasantly surprised to find twin beds on the main floor and on a small balconied area five steps up, another mattress (unfortunately on the floor). I said unfortunately, as we are all ladies in our 50's and 60's. It did make sense, as the upper level had a very low ceiling. The beds were comfy, the room clean and had plenty of room. Maid service was a bit hit and miss, as our dirty tea and coffee cups had not been replaced with clean ones when the room was cleaned. They do not supply milk for coffee or tea either, as the coffee sachets supplied are a pre-mix type. One lady also asked for an extra blanket/doona, but then the maid took it the next morning when making the bed. We also found that most of the electrical sockets did not work even using converters and the phone in the room was also non-functional. The breakfast buffet contained the usual fare in an Asian hotel, but very little for the westerners. Enough to make do, but coffee could have been a bit better. We also tried dinner one night (breakfast buffet converts to Cutty Sark restaurant of an evening). Expensive...
Read moreOcean Hotel was a bit hard to find, because we went the wrong way from the metro station (it really is NOT a long walk, so if you've strolled 20 minutes you've already missed it)||||The staff was super friendly, their English good and service impeccable. The room was a two bed room on the sixth floor overlooking the swimming pool area. Beds were comfortable, shower was excellent. (There's a safe in the room for valuables, not big enough for normally large laptops).||||The swimming pool area was awesome, they've planted some magnolia trees and others greens there to make it look a little like a rooftop garden. You have free use of the swimming pool, but you have to use a swimming cap (you get them for 1,5 Eur at the pool area, no worries).||||They are currently renovating so you have to take the lift to the 4h floor, walk through a bit of hallway, then up a flight of stairs and then out the door to the pool area. But it was no big deal, we went there twice and really enjoyed ourselves.||||There are always taxis out the front of the hotel so you can easily get transportation to wherever you need.||||Would stay...
