One of the top 10 cable car rides in the TripAdvisor survey. Awesome and breath-taking views throughout the journey. People can board the cable cars either in Tung Chung Station in Tung Chung or Ngong Ping Station on the Lantau mountain. To reach Tung Chung Station of Ngong Ping 360, the easiest way is to take MTR train which connects from downtown Kowloon and Hong Kong Island or New Territories. It takes 5 minutes lesiure walk from Tung Chung MTR Station to Ngong Ping 360. Also you can take buses or taxi or tour coaches. Tickets can be sold on the day - long queue (can be 1 hour wait) or buy online. If the tickets (passes) are printed, you can walk straight to the gates before boarding the cabin 😉. Look at the official website and you can find many packages (including trips to Tai O Fishing Village - "Hong Kong Venice") and many discounts. During the ride, you will be amazed with the ever-changing views. Firstly, you see the hustle and bustle of Tung Chung City, then arrive in the Airport angle station where you are in the close proximity to the HK Airport. The direction of the cable cars is changed to uphill towards the mountains. You can see part of the Hong Kong Macau Zhuhai Bridge and birdseye view of HK International Airport and South China Sea. On the top of one of the peaks, it changes direction again towards Ngong Ping. It is a beautiful green mountain with Tian Tan Buddha in distance. If you travel in the Crystal Cabin with a transparent glass floor, you can see amazing views below your feet. Scary but safe. Truly fantastic experience. Inside Ngong Ping Station, you can buy interesting souvenirs and memorable photos taken inside the cabin before the ride. Once you walk outside Station, there are many excellent photo-taking opportunities of the engineering-marvel Cable car, the magnificent Lantau Peak, and the solemn seated bronze Tian Tan Buddha 👍. In the Ngong Ping Village , there are 3 major attractions : Walking with Buddha, VR 360 and 5D movies. Excellent for all ages. There are many souvenirs shops, restaurants and cafes. No worries for restrooms - very clean. After an enjoyable stroll in the Village, you arrive in Po Lin Monestry. Very peaceful surroundings with temples and the foot-step of Tian Tan Buddha. People come here for worship, sightseeing and photography. There are a few local stores offering delicious fish or squid balls, noodles and Hong Kong-styled street food. Also, you may wonder why so many people visit these stores which are not quite as grand as the cafes in the Village. Hong Kong people know the secrets that these cafes offer the best tofu fa (bean curd custard) in Hong Kong as they use local crystal-clear spring water for making it 😋. Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car Ride gives you amazing, unique and unforgettable experience and is fantastic attraction for every member of the family. Highly recommended 😉👍

This is a good experience if you are visiting HK for the first time. I'd recommend buying an all-inclusive package on-site or online with a travel agency: Cable car round trip + Tai O boat excursion + $20 hkd snack coupons. We went on a Friday morning, arriving at the cable car stop at around 10:30am. There is a separate line for those who bought their tickets online from a travel agency like Klook (not sponsored, just convenient). This line is for collecting the tickets. After you collect the tickets, you will need to wait about 30 minutes to get on a cable car. We purchased a standard cable car package, but the crystal car (transparent floor) wait was much much shorter. The ride is about 25 minutes, and the view is quite good. A few things to take note of: 1) They will ask for a photo when you are seated in the car. They will try to sell you a printed photo when you arrive at Ngong Ping village. 2) You will need to use the bus tickets provided in the all-inclusive package to get to Tai-O fishing village. The bus comes every 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can use your octopus to pay if you didn't buy the package. 3) There are private boat tours SEPARATE from the ones that are included in your package. The private ones are about $40 HKD for 20 minutes. 4) BRING CASH The fishing village has a variety of small snacks. Some stores take the snack coupon. If you walk around a bit, you will notice that at least a couple stores sell the same items. Egg waffles, curry fish balls, tanghulu, Chinese traditional desserts. Find the best price for yourself. 5) The last cable car is at 6pm. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend to aim to arrive at least 1-1.5 hours before the last cable car. We lined up at around 4:45pm and waited almost until 6pm to get on the cable car. The line behind us was still very long. They will try to sell you photos of yourself again on the other side. The crystal cable car had a wait too, but not as long.

Great way to toss away half a day! We got there at 1030am with pre purchased tickets from their website, and we still had to queue for over an hour because for some inane reason, you need to "exchange" your qr voucher for the tickets. The counters were understaffed, and don't think using Klook would get you there quicker. There's only 1 counter for the klook bookings and you have to do the exact same thing as everyone: queue. Why they do not simply use the QR code as a ticket, I'll never know. Besides, the queue does not check the physical ticket. What they look at are the wrist bands (like some night club). Even on return, they barely looked at our wristbands. What you shouldn't do is to try to purchase the tickets onsite. Literal 5th class citizens as these people go ahead of you: 1. Tour groups (they get fast tracked) 2. Web bookings 3. Klook bookings 4. Hotel package bookings 5. You. Of course the queue is going to be long. The main bottle neck is this dumb queue system which doesn't save any time if you had prebook tickets. You are at the mercy of the usher who decides which of the 5 queue lines get to go to the next available counter. We got crystal cabin, and that's a mistake. The premium isn't a lot, so there's plenty of people going for it. There's 1 crystal car every 2 or 3 normal cars (crystal plus is every 5 cars), so the second queue to the cable car is another hour plus. They will cram 10 to a car because there's no way around it. Not exactly premium. There was plenty of lines for both crystal and crystal plus. There's a poor photographer grabbing photos of tired and annoyed people. Can't blame him for his job, but on reaching ngong ping, there's like 10 staff (really well staffed!) ready to sell you pictures. 100hkd just for the picture without a frame. No thank you. We took the normal car on the way down and the views are just as good. My 2 cents: don't bother as you wait longer and the views are the same (unless you want to see the ground) Plus, we were lucky we didn't go to tai O. Huge line at the bus and the boats were already full. The counters were offering full package refunds for prepaids or a 100hkd tai O voucher. Not exactly what I want from a touristy spot. Really don't recommend it unless you like queueing for 3 hours and throwing away half a day. If you're here for the buddah, take a cab from the mtr station.

To go up to the village, we will take the Ngong Ping Cable Car Ngong Ping Station up by Nong Ping 360, a cable car where we will see a 360-degree view of the green mountains and the sea, up the mountain to the Ngong Ping Cultural Village on top of Muk Yue Mountain When we get out of the cable car, we will see the Ngong Ping Cultural Village. This place is built like a replica of an ancient village full of shops and restaurants with many cute photo spots. The shops are decorated with a mix of traditional Chinese culture and architecture. I like the colors of the lanterns they decorate, they are super cute. Along the way to the Big Buddha, we will pass many large Chinese arches, pass the magnificent Ngong Ping Square where the bulls come out to walk, letting us take close-up photos. The walkway is lined with stone statues of gods. Then we will go up to pay homage to the Big Buddha by walking up the stairs, more than 286 steps. The Big Buddha of Koh Lanta is the largest outdoor bronze Buddha statue in the world. Hong Kong people believe that If anyone comes to worship the Big Buddha Tian Tan, their life will be prosperous, happy, and successful in every aspect. When you go up, you will see the view of the temple and the entire mountain as far as your eyes can see. It is very beautiful. It is really worth going up here. Next to it is Po Lin Monastery, a large Buddhist temple on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It was built by three Chinese monks in 1906. It used to be called "Big Grass Cottage" and later changed its name to Po Lin Monastery in 1924. If you have less time, you can visit it for half a day. We only came for half a day. It is very worthwhile.

My husband said this was one of the highlights of our Hong Kong trip, and I have to agree—if you’re in Hong Kong, especially on Lantau Island, this is a must-do to see the big Buddha at the top. I was mentally preparing for long lines after reading reviews and seeing photos - but our secret weapon? Arriving a couple of hours before the last cable car comes down at 6 PM. No crowds, just us and the views! A round-trip ticket costs around HK$270, and honestly, why would anyone buy a one-way ticket unless you’re planning to hike down? We saw people tackling that trail up, it looked like a never-ending stairmaster. My husband claims he did that hike growing up, and it took six hours. Six. Hours. Yeah, that’s a hard pass for me. Give me the 25-minute cable car ride with panoramic views any day! If I had to recommend the perfect time to come down from the mountain I'd say go for 6pm at sunset. Watching the sun dip below the mountains and reflect off the ocean? Absolute magic. The cable cars are surprisingly roomy, fitting about 8 people, but because we showed up just before closing, it was practically empty. The cars are well-ventilated too, so you won’t feel like you're roasting in there. The ride itself was super smooth, and everyone at customer service was incredibly helpful and spoke English. All in all, it was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—without the sweat of hiking for hours
