If you chose this agency, I suggest only sign up for the 3D2N Amazon rainforest tour. There are several things worth noting about this agency: Their tour was combined with multiple agencies, we had 11 people on our 3D2N Amazon tour, who all signed up from different places. Despite the large number of group. The rainforest tour was okay, we enjoyed the trip and our tour guide Patrick spoke English and is very knowledgeable about the area.
However, DO NOT SIGN UP for any Colombian/Maloka experience. We originally wanted a 4D3N Amazon rainforest experience, the owner (Sebastian) told us we can have the last day on the Colombian side, visiting local communities and staying in a Maloka. Please see the pictures for the “Maloka” experience he had put us through: The Maloka is half finished; no local community lives there. We were the ONLY human beings We arrived at the afternoon, and there was no programs, no activities. We just sat there and waited for the night to come and our tour guide Patrick had no idea what’s next either. The place is in the suburb of Leticia, there’s no signal and no transportation. No electricity for charging and only one lamp for the huge house. We were left in the middle of nowhere, in this man-made sufferings, while eating dinner in the dark that was diverted from Leticia!!! This felt very fake and absurd. The hygiene condition was very bad. The bathroom had people’s poop on it (the picture we took was after we wiped it), and there was bugs everywhere, with no mosquitoes net. The night walk was guided by a building worker who had no experience at all. We were forced to cross many dangerous single-wood bridges with deep water running underneath. The worker had no idea where to walk, our 1 hour walk turned out to be 2.5hr because we were lost. Also, they knew the forest is used for hunting, so there was no animal at all!!
I don’t understand the arrangement. We could’ve either stayed in a real local community or in Leticia. I had to walked to a place where only my US SIM card had a slight signal but no internet to contact our hotel to get a cab for us to go back to Lecitia at 11pm, while Sebastian was nowhere to be found.
When we asked him about why this happened the next day, there’s no good explanation. The only thing is that we got reimbursed for the taxi back to Leticia. But nothing good to make up for our 4th day experience which we had paid for - we were almost handed to the same “local community leader” again who led us to that fake Maloka and...
Read morei was looking for a nice way to exlore the amazonas area on my way to puerto nariño. gamboa exc. letting me believe that their tour for 120k pesos is the much better option than taking the public boat for 30k. at the end it was the same kind of boat (speed boat) what basically just lets you rush up the river. the first stop on the other side of the amazonas was with local people that wanted to show you all kind of excotic animals. the problem was, that this animals (sloths, snakes, birds, a panther ect.) were not handled well.. also they ask again for money. so it is just a tourist thing. the 2nd stop at monkey island was also quite staged and basically just to take photos. they have monkeys climb all over you. also it is just one kind of monkeys, so not much to see besides that animal. the next stop was for lunch at a really beautiful place and i have to admit that the food was good. after that we stopped another time for an artisanoan place where people danced for and with us to afterwards sell some handcraft. i was really happy to get out there as i don’t like those things at all. since i was staying in puerto nariño i did not get to see the dolphins on the tour (even though it was promised) because they did this on the way back (without any further explainations) ..so i missed out on that. the tour finally ended at around 2:30 instead of 4, what was initially told by the tour operator. all in all i would recommend to go to puerto nariño with the local boat and use the saved 90k pesos to do some better/cheaper tours up here. here it is way less about just making money what is a very good...
Read moreOutstanding in many ways, a huge compliment to our guide Sergi:
Socialism: Very good connection between guides and tourists. Every participant immediately felt comfortable.
Organization: everything went smoothly. That a tourist has to lend a hand on a four-day trip (maloka tour) to bring the goods of civilization to the remote places is normal and not a problem if you are physically in an average condition.
Expertise: every animal, no matter how foreign, was recognized by our guide and described with relevant, interesting facts. He (Sergi) was also very familiar with the plant world and knew how to go into detail where necessary and omit the uninteresting.
Professionalism: A sting of a creepy crawly could not cause any unrest either. This is because the subsequent scenario was presented with calm, serenity and professionalism and the person was therefore able to continue the tour with peace of mind.
You always felt like you were in highly professional hands. We (three of us) recommend this unique experience to everyone...1.3 Mio. COP for food, water, accommodation, guidance are appropriate and fair in our view.
We can't judge how the other guides of the agency lead through the program, but Sergi was just...
