This hotel, Amazonas Real, is something else, not in a good way||||We had just had 4 nights at Hotel Anaconda with trips food etc all inclusive, it was great. The tours etc in Amazonas are well worth the trip. ||||We wanted to try a different hotel and restaurant for our final night. My partner enquired during the day and was quoted, by a young lady, 60,000 for 2 for the night, no breakfast. OK, agreed, no problem so far.||||We went to check in about 8 in the evening and were told, by a large loud male, it would be 90,000 for 2 (60,000 for 1 person), not happy but we agreed (where else to go at that time of night in a strange town?) and went to our room. He did not ask for payment and we assumed, as with all normal hotels, we would pay on checkout in the morning.||||Within a few minutes there was loud banging on the door of our room and a man shouting. My partner (who speaks native Spanish, I do not speak much) opened the door and was abused, very aggressively by the same male and told to pay within 5 minutes or get out. He actually used very insulting swear words to my partner as well as the aggression.||Now what to do? We were now frightened, but we decided to go down and pay (as before, where else to go?)||||The large aggressive male had left and a much more pleasant male took the payment. But that's not all!||||We went back to the room to freshen up and.. NO towels, NO toiletries, we went to put things in the frig and the front was really badly rusted. The fitted sheet was too small so even sitting on the bed it came off the corner, there was no cover on the mattress so rather than sleep directly on a well used mattress, disgusting, we slept on top of the bed.||||In the morning, he was at the front desk but did not even acknowledge us as, let alone apologise, as we walked through the lobby.||||That night and the next morning we got some satisfaction from telling other hotel managers and restaurateurs around the town of this monster in their midst doing damage to the public image of a wonderful town with wonderful people, Leticia.||||Visit the town but NOT...
Read moreI spent 11 nights at the hotel in 4 different rooms. Each room had some kind of problem but they were all relatively clean and had working AC. The sink didn't work in the first, the bed was super hard in the second, and there was no toilet seat in the 3rd. I checked out for 3 nights and when I returned I got the 4th room where the sink & shower worked, it had a toilet seat, but the AC didn't work as well as the other 3 rooms. The hotel pros are great location, it's inexpensive, has AC, the linen & towels are clean, room is cleaned daily, and there are 2 adjacent restaurants for lunch & dinner if it's dumping rain. Also it's pretty bug free. I didn't use mosquito repellent while at the hotel or walking around Leticia. The cons is that the rooms are a run down, dimly lit, I never was able to connect my phone or PC to the internet, and there is no hot running water. Also the sliding doors to the closet were either stuck, falling off the tracks, or gone (the best). Plan on showering later in the day after the sun warms the water tank on the roof! The pool & deck area are nice but some of the guests love to have music blasting out of the supplied boom box. The hotel rate includes a simple breakfast but I walked over to the Waira Hotel every morning for their brunch which was excellent for $14,000 Colombian pesos (about $5.25 US).||||I can recommend this hotel to anyone looking to spend $25/night for a clean room with breakfast if don't mind a 2 star accomodation. The staff was friendly and worked on the problems I found with my rooms including buying me a new...
Read moreStayed here as a part of a travel group on our way in and out of the Amazon region. The group had stayed here in previous years, but this was my first time. The hotel is very central in Leticia and close to the river. There are also plenty of cambios (money exchange shops) around and great options for shopping and food in some of the more local markets. Now to the not so great...I won't say that I had high expectations as this hotel was in a smaller community, but I do have certain "hopes" when I stay somewhere. The front desk staff was not very friendly upon check-in and we had to wait about 45 minutes for our rooms even though we booked well in advance. The hotel offers Wi-Fi...I did see the router, but there was no Internet connectivity on either occasion we stayed. Also, there are different rates for stays with/without breakfast. This was not disclosed until after we sat down and were told we didn't get breakfast in not so nice terms. Finally, the true difficulty for me was coming home to the States and seeing bites all over my legs. At first, I assumed it came from the daily treks, but I found that everyone else in the group had the same. Our group physician (MD) diagnosed them as bedbug bites. Overall, the stay was very affordable and was close to the river, but these were the only redeeming qualities. Will definitely look elsewhere if I return to...
