Parque Santander — Attraction in Leticia

This is the nicest park in Leticia, when compared with the poor state of the majority of Letician parks. Unfortunately, the cleaning staff have trouble picking up the continuous stream of trash dropped by uncaring users of the area. Additionally, the roads surrounding the park are in various, long-term, negligent states of repair and disrepair, ranging from merely an eyesore to downright treacherous.

For positives, it is a beautiful park with huge native jungle trees and plants. Every sunset it is visited be thousands of quick flying, loudly chirping birds which swarm between the massive trees. The largest church in the city borders the park, and visitors may ascend its bell tower for a spectacular view of the city. Local vendors ply their wares during events and the late...

The most unforgetable moments is when the birds (pericos) get together at the tallest trees and fly around the park at around 5:30 pm every day. Enjoy the spectacle either on the groung or climb the tiny stairs othe church tower to appreciate the town from a high point. ( is not at extreme high point , so every body can climb it )

The large numbers of birds makes the experience absolutly surreal and breath taking.

Leticia is a small place. So everything is pretty much writhing walking distance if you enjoy walking.

Leticia est une toute petite ville typique d’Amérique du Sud qui a pour principales activités, les excursions dans la jungle. Nous avons choisi de passer par l’agence de voyage « Amazon jungle trip » qui est recommandée par le Guide du Routard. Notre séjour a été très complet, extraordinairement magnifique et bien expliqué (nous avions des guides locaux qui vivent à l’année dans la jungle). Si vous y allez en saison sèche, le niveau de l’Amazone baisse et donc vous pourrez faire plus de balades en marchant. Si au contraire, vous venez pendant la saison des pluies, vous pourrez vous balader sur l’Amazone, rencontrer des dauphins, des caïmans et plusieurs autres animaux splendides. Ce tour est une pension complète dans l’Amazonie (très bonne cuisinière et sanitaires très propres) pendant 3 jours (deux nuits) minimum pouvant aller jusqu’à environ 1 semaine. Nous vous conseillons d’y aller avant (au mois de juin) car c’est la mi-saison (vous pourrez vous balader dans la jungle mais aussi naviguer sur l’Amazone en pirogue.) À cette période, il y a aussi beaucoup moins de touristes qu’en été. Pour trois jours, nous avions payé 300 000 COP par personne. En effet, il faut prévoir un bon budget pour l’Amazonie car ça vaut vraiment le coût. Je trouve que ce prix est mérité. Sinon nous avions hésité avec une autre agence de voyage qui avait l’aire pas mal qui s’appelle « Georges of the jungle » mais nous ne l’avons pas testée. Profitez bien de...
