Hotel La Riviera — Attraction in Santa Marta

Stayed here January 18th-21st, 2015. The Hotel was in an excellent location only about 2 blocks from Rodadero Beach on a quiet side street. The Staff was extremely friendly and the facility was spotless as was the room. Breakfast was included and served on the patio next to the pool. Although not extravagant it was more than sufficient to start your day.|| Rodadero Beach was nice and all along the boardwalk beside the beach were numerous vendors of food and drink of your choice. Also all along the beach front were numerous restaurants for dining. On the beach you could rent a covered shelter from the heat for 20,000COP for the day or $10 US funds. It was well worth the money as the heat was incredible during the day. On the side streets were numerous souvenir shops and if you were not in hurry you could find some real bargains.|| We took a taxi into Central Santa Marta which was about a 10 minute drive. The cost was 20,000COP and well worth the trip. There was plenty to see such as the Gold Museum, Cathedrals, Plaza Bolivar and the hacienda where Simon Bolivar lived until his death. Stayed at this hotel on a Saturday night after our wedding party for a friend. Hotel was cheap enough and looked great in the Priceline pics. However when we got there it just didn’t seem to add up to the pics we saw. The room was extremely basic with hardly any decor on the walls (my girl is an interior designer) and everything we saw was just not as colorful as it looked in pics. The room felt like a jail cell with no decor and just a bed, a table and chair, a tiny refrigerator, and an AC (that worked very well). The bed was cheap and extremely firm, which I like but my girl not so much. The shower was supposed to have hot water but was not working so we had cold water for the shower. The breakfast was basic but good enough with eggs and pancakes with a mango and some coffee or chocolate. I’d stay here again if they fixed it looking like a jail cell and add better mattresses and fixed cold water. The area is safe though and we didn’t feel in danger at any time. Free...

This hotel was a good choice to save some money, but have good decent service. I can say I enjoyed being at the hote. The people working there were very nice and gave me a warm welcomed. I enjoyed the food they served. I always felt if I was at the restaurant firs, they would serve more ; ) The room they gave me did not have a beautiful view, but I cant complain. Everything was clean, decent cable tv, an alarm clock. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The corridors were a bit dark in my opinion...||In general, I enjoyed being at this hotel. At night, you can go to a restaurant or disco. They all are just 5 minutes far from the hotel. So the location...
