I have too much to say so hopefully I don't miss anything! We made our reservation online, but that doesn't mean paying bc you pay after your ride. The phone number on the website is not up to date but if you fill out the reservation survey, you'll receive an email. WILL was my guide. He has so much patience, is kind, and knowledgeable and his English is great! I know Spanish but my husband, not so much. He can hold a great conversation and he'll be your biggest fan. We did the morning tour, it was just three of us, us two and we met a new German friend, so a total of four in our group, it was perfect! The tour was on the property, which has access to streams and the perfect Volcano view (except on my day, it was just the base of the Arenal volcano, it was too cloudy) and the most beautiful at the end, a small waterfall for pictures. The property was too muddy since it rained a few days prior. WILL made me feel comfortable and kept reminding us of positions for safety. You can't beat the price for the experience, the snacksthe , water, juice or coffee, a plate of fruits upon return from the ride, and a tortilla with queso fresco (made from the cow's milk on their farm) with Avocado, super delicious! And when I say the experience I mean the highlight of my ride, it was my last day in La Fortuna, and after several attractions, in about 4 days, I had not seen the infamous sloth nor a toucan, I mentioned this when we first arrived to the stables and it sure was my lucky day, WILL was multitasking, being a guide on our ride and looking out for these two animals. We saw 4 sloths and a bunch of toucans, it was truly magical. The best of all, shortly after I found a horseshoe, my lucky sign, and I got to keep it. Their team was wonderful, Will, Issac and Kendall, back at the stables were all hands on deck, teamwork. But my favorite part of my day was my girl, La Caballota, Mora, the leader, the boss lady, Mora was exceptional! She behaved so well and did so great, she was truly un aMOR. Lastly, WILL, is the riders, and the horse's biggest cheerleader, I'll never forget "si, si, Albita, excellente, buena baquera (cowgirl) eso es! Pura Vida! Dale Mora! Buena Mora!". Thank you Don Tobias Team for an...
Read moreOur family of 4 had the most incredible experience on 3rd July 2023 with Don Tobias' horseback ride around Arenal volcano, guided by the amazing Will. From start to finish, this tour was nothing short of fantastic. Will's friendly nature and vast knowledge of the area made the entire experience even more memorable.
During the tour, we were fortunate enough to encounter a variety of fascinating wildlife. We had the privilege of seeing a sloth up close, as well as a white hawk, howler monkeys, tucans, and even the rare spider monkey. It was truly a wildlife enthusiast's dream come true.
But it wasn't just the wildlife that left us in awe. Will's expertise ensured that our boys felt confident on their horses throughout the ride. The horses themselves were the sweetest and most well-trained companions we could have asked for.
The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the breathtaking view of the Arenal volcano. Will knew the best spots to showcase this natural wonder, and it left us speechless. He even went the extra mile and captured some incredible family photos of us on the horses with the Arenal volcano as the backdrop. We will treasure those memories forever.
I wholeheartedly recommend this horseback tour, especially with Will as your guide. It was the perfect way to conclude our time in Costa Rica, and it exceeded all our expectations. If you're seeking an unforgettable adventure with remarkable wildlife sightings, breathtaking scenery, and a friendly and knowledgeable guide, look no further than Don Tobias' horseback ride with Will. It truly was the best experience we could...
Read moreMy partner and I went on a private tour in the morning. On the private tour, we were definitely able to have a more exciting experience. We passed a large group and it didn’t look like they were able to do as much, which is to be expected with the nature of varying groups/skill levels, so we were glad we booked the private tour!
Isaac was our guide and he was knowledgeable, personable and funny, and a pro at spotting wildlife. We saw several animals we wouldn’t have seen without him including sloths, toucans and howler monkeys. He clearly loves and cares for the horses and emphasized the bond between human and horse. We are both horse people and I’m an experienced rider already, so we got to gallop around the property a decent bit which was super fun! The horses definitely enjoyed it also, they were excited and ready to get up and go vs other places with worn out, overworked horses. After our ride, our horses were done and got a couple of days off.
We rode for a little over 2 hours. He also took lots of pictures for us (most on my boyfriend’s phone)! We rode around the property and got great views of the city, and would have had amazing views of the volcano too if it was less cloudy, but it was still cool to see.
After our tour, we were given fresh & delicious fruit, homemade tortilla with cheese & avocado, and water for lunch. The dogs on the property were also super cute and friendly. I definitely recommend booking with Don Tobias! Thank you to Isaac & Pinto, the sweet horse that was my partner for the tour. 10/10 recommend this experience when...
