Absolutely the best hotel we found in all of Costa Rica. A very romantic and beautiful hotel. The staff were amazing. Eli checked us in and helped us on our last day too. He was pleasant, super helpful, and he gave us several local suggestions that helped us so much. He showed us some photos of some local wildlife to look for too. He explained everything very well.
Ryan was our bartender during our entire stay and he was fabulous. The drinks were all fabulous and the conversation was great. I especially liked the White Russian very much.
Leonardo, Lily and Magaly made some of the best food. We enjoyed our dinner the first night and an appetizer the second night. We had omelettes for breakfast each day and they were so good. The coffee was great. Ryan brought our food right to our room the one night. Isa served us breakfast and was friendly and helpful. Leonardo helped us schedule our laundry to be washed and was very accommodating when we asked to move our breakfast time around due to when we were scheduled for a local tour.
The rooms and the grounds are incredibly well maintained. Everything was so clean and well kept. The pool was spotless and so refreshing. The hot spring pool was cleaned every day we were there and was so relaxing. The A/C was ice cold. The tv actually worked and had at least one or more English channels, which was a huge plus for us. The shower was awesome and extra hot. This is hard to find in CR.
The view of the volcano is incredible. We saw iguanas of several sizes, many birds, and cool insects. I saw a toucan fly across the front of the property from the front porch of our cabana. We also enjoyed seeing the cows and horses. Personally, I felt the grounds were a little too well manicured being I love the wildlife. That said, we heard there were many snakes around, so I’ll take the manicured yards over a snake any day.
The price was excellent, the hotel was convenient to all of the local activities, and the hotel was very nice. By far the best place we stayed at during our visit...
Read moreLike others I received the “casita” and did not recall choosing this. I spoke up after they said it was a 10 minute walk to the hot springs, pool and restaurant for breakfast. They said I could do one night in the bungalow before a large group arrived the next day. The bungalow was close to the pool and breakfast in the morning and after moving to the house I realized the walk to the hotel is mostly uphill or downhill so I was thankful I was leaving early the next morning and wasn’t doing breakfast. You definitely need 4x4 to get to the house as well. The house itself is nice and the AC worked well. It is a mountain town so there were little lizards in the house, but I don’t mind that. I’m not normally picky about hotels cause it’s just a place to sleep but it definitely was not advertised as basically an airbnb that was “part of the hotel” and I wouldn’t recommend it if you aren’t driving a 4x4 and don’t want to or can’t walk the distance to the facilities. The view of the volcano is fantastic so that was why I...
Read moreVisited this place for 3 nights in November during the week. The place was pretty much empty. I booked my stay through Booking.com and got a decent rate. I’m giving 4 stars only because the standard room we stayed in had a bed that seemed like it was from 10 years ago. The mattress would sink in the middle. The second night some of the boards holding up the mattress fell on the floor and all I did was turn over. My back was hating me for sleeping on it. The good: the room was clean, the the view of the Volcano was perfect from the rear sliding door but the whole time there the Volcano always had clouds covering the top. Breakfast was very good and was included. The pool and hot spring pool was great. It was nice to relax in the hot spring after a day of hiking. The staff were all very nice and took care of us. Upon checkout I did have to ask for my receipt of the room and the expenses incurred while at the restaurant and the bar at the pool because they weren’t going to give me one. I would definitely...
