So glad we discovered the Tamarindo Thursday night market. It is a short walk from the centre of town and the main road has occasional street lights so we left our flashlights at the hotel. We visited this market on two different Thursdays, a week apart. The second visit was specifically for the food. There is quite a variety of freshly made food that we found reasonably priced (for Tamarindo) I had a large plate of paella, and a chorizo sausage on a bun with with a spiced sauce. The total was $16.00 USD. It fed both of us. The music is lively , the vendors are engaging and plentiful. It is a totally different vibe from the Saturday town centre market. It runs each Thursday from 6-9pm. Worth a visit.

The Tamarindo Moonlight Night Market is a fun spot every Thursday between 5-10p. The music starts almost immediately at 5p. There are a ton of food vendors and some shopping vendors as well. The drinks were good, but by far the best thing we had at the market was an arepa from Arepa Chips (@arepa_chips on IG). They’re only at the market and don’t have a brick and mortar, to my knowledge. That was single-handedly the best arepa we’ve ever had (and we’ve had many) as well as our favorite meal in Costa Rica.

10/10 recommend. This was a fun and interesting market. We got there right at 6 and it was still setting up. Gave it a couple of minutes and a there were tons of vendors with jewelry, trinkets, and amazing food. My husband got some great food, and there were a few gluten free dessert vendors. Music and dancing made this a must. Bugs down below but the top level was perfect.

This was recommended by a friend who lives in Tamarindo and it did not disappoint. It was a 5 minute walk uphill from our condo La Buena Vida, really easy to get there. The stalls are all open air and there was live music both Thursdays we were there. There is a sitting area but it was jam-packed with people. There are many different kinds of vendors including pottery, many jewelry stands, handmade clothes, pictures, trinkets and souvenirs. The best part is the food vendors! Such a big variety ranging from authentic Costa Rican dishes, Venezuelan and Argentinian meals, to bakery items. My favorite was a spicy chicken kabob from two fellows in a tiny stall on the ground level and then the Nutella filled donuts! Some vendors...

Great local hangout for everything you need and want. From locally sourced foods to crafts and clothing you will find it here. If you are new or old to the area, this night market is the happening place to be. We always find great gifts for friends or ourselves here. The live music is upbeat and local to dance your butt off to. Wheelchair accessible from the top level, but could be a little tricky if it is a busy night. I always have a hard time finding a restroom to use here so be prepared for that. The vendors do not always have small change so make sure you have small bills and loose coins. This market is a great way to start or end a perfect Thursday...
