An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Naan and Curries – We Need One in California!
I’m already experiencing withdrawals because Naan and Curries isn’t in California – I miss it so much! Our experience here was nothing short of incredible, from the exceptional service to the private room, amazing food, and refreshing drinks. If I could give this place 10 stars, I absolutely would.
Our group made a promise to try an Indian restaurant while in Costa Rica, and I’m so glad we found Naan and Curries – it was the perfect choice. We were warmly greeted by a friendly gentleman who treated both our families with such kindness, even with a few loud kids in tow. We wanted to keep the kids engaged with activities instead of their phones, and the staff was so accommodating and hospitable, making the evening even more special.
I could easily write for an hour about how much we loved this restaurant – it was one of the highlights of our trip – but I’ll keep it concise and share what we enjoyed. The menu had an impressive variety, and we sampled a wide range of dishes, all of which were fantastic.
Drinks:
• Namastey: A refreshing mix of gin, mint, and watermelon juice. • Wines: My wife enjoyed a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc.
Food:
• Garlic and Butter Naan (a crowd favorite!) • Chicken Methi Malai • Chicken Tikka Masala Sizzler • Chicken Tikka Masala • Chicken 65 • Chow Mein Dish • Lamb Chops
Everything was outstanding, with bold flavors and perfect execution. The only dish I could’ve skipped was the lamb chops – they weren’t the traditional style I expected, and I felt there wasn’t enough meat for the price. But that minor hiccup didn’t detract from the overall experience.
We absolutely loved Naan and Curries and can’t stop talking about it. They need to open a location in California – I’d be a regular! If you’re in Costa Rica, don’t...
Read moreWE WERE TREATED AS SECOND CLASS CITIZENS AT THIS PLACE. We had party of 8 (4 kids 4 adults) and we walked 12ish mins to eat at this place. After having walked in muggy hot weather we found out that the entire restaurant didn't have a/c, however there was a small section closed off with glass walls that had air conditioning. We obviously wanted to sit there as we had young kids who would eat better if they were comfortable. When we requested a table there we were told that 'Manager' had a 'rule' to not sit bigger party in that section. However, soon after we watched them sit a party of 6 adults in the same A/C section?? When I asked them how they could accommodate the other big party but not us, they didn't have a good explanation. I am not sure what was at the base of this bias, but this was one of the most messed up discrimination I have come across. This family restaurant is not accommodating of families. Who wants to sit in heat and eat hot food? The drinks we ordered were prepared and left at the bar counter melting for minutes before it was served to us. Take your business elsewhere where you are not treated as a second class citizen- bcos may be you have a bigger party or bcos you have kids in your party or bcos y'all look like nice accommodating family. For the record we had ate at the Taj Mahal in San Jose and were infact happy to eat at its sister restaurant, but I won't ever be returning or recommending this...
Read moreNever had tried Indian food in my life...besides the usual curry (which I personally never fancied too much). Coming here was a dream since the very first step into the restaurant. Ambience and decoration..11/10. Food...Blew my mind...11/10. Service, outstanding and attentive, yet respectful, allowing for the proper space to enjoy the peace and joy of the Indian feeling/scenery. Such detail in every utensil, song, bite, and corner you glance over to. I really appreciate the energy and love poured into bringing this business into town to give us the privelage of the experiencing a little taste of Indian. It really is a place that makes you feel special. I am a local and it definitely is a place I feel I can go to escape the usual day to day. FOR SURE, an "out of ordinary" experience. Props to the owners! I will say I have been 3 times and even then, I don't think I've seen the whole menu. I have tried and 100% reccommend the yellow lentil soup, Honey orange nutmeg chicken appetizer, the butter chicken, garlic butter naan, white and brown chocoate mousse, etc. (sorry I am so bad with names). I will have to say though, the Honey orange juice nutmeg chicken appetizer and the butter chicken has my heart and have made it difficult to keep on trying other dishes, although tempting. love it love it..LOVE it. GO..GO..GO. PS. I am actually on my way there as I write...
