ZOLU TACO BAR Tamarindo — Restaurant in Tamarindo

Zolu is hands-down one of the best dining experiences in Tamarindo. The birria tacos are absolutely incredible — the best I’ve ever had, rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The ceviche is fresh and bright, the kind of dish that makes you want to order seconds.

One of the coolest parts is that if you go out fishing, you can bring your catch here and the kitchen will prepare it for you any way you like — grilled, tacos, ceviche, you name it. After a day on the water, sitting down to have your own fish turned into a feast is such a special experience.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the service attentive, and the food consistently amazing. Whether you’re just stopping in for tacos or making it the highlight of your fishing trip, Zolu is a must...

We had dinner here two nights ago and ordered the shrimp burrito and shrimp taco. The food tasted good, and the service was excellent, which is why I’m giving two stars instead of one.

Unfortunately, I experienced FOOD POISONING afterward, spending the entire night unwell and the following day in bed. I understand this is a serious claim, but as we had travelled all day and only eaten cookies for lunch and skipped breakfast, we are confident it was due to the food. We are also very mindful of hygiene and avoid tap water.

Regrettably, based on this experience, we would not return.

Stumbled across this taco bar by accident and ended up visiting three times during our stay in Tamarindo. The food was prepared fresh and had the most amazing flavor each time we went. It was consistently delicious & gets bonus points from me for having vegetarian options. Service was also a 10/10. Our host checked on us often and even gave us the secret recipe to the AMAZING limeade they serve there. One evening we had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he explained to us how Zolu got its name from his fur babies.
