Tomb 3 — Attraction in Paphos Municipality

Thanks to a comprehensive and well-carried restoration program in the tombs' atrium, Tomb 3 is probably the most visually appealing, even if the original architectural elements are limited to some column bases and the friezes above the North and West porticoes.

As expected, there is a ritual funerary water well located by the landing of the stairwell (dromos) under the North portico. Straight ahead there is a vaulted burial chamber that communicates with a different chamber tomb complex to the East via an opening caused by looters.

A few meters to the South, there is another vaulted chamber whose entrance has a decorative carved frame all around it. Inside the chamber, a niche has been carved high up on the wall opposite the entrance. The floor is uneven due to secondary quarrying.

Across the atrium, on the West side, there is yet another burial chamber, also vaulted, with burial niches (loculi) radiating from its walls. Inside, there are small  patches with remaining...
