Amazing Food, BUT...
We booked a table last night, July 19th, and we arrived and were seated quickly. As soon as we sat down without looking at a menu, a waiter came over and asked for drinks. We said we had just arrived and give us 2 minutes. He came back and we ordered a bottle of water and 2 glasses of wine Chianti Classico, then another waiter came over with a bottle of the same wine. I confirmed we ordered 2 glasses and not the bottle. Maybe a mix-up or an upsell? Either way, the wine was exceptional.
We ordered the mushrooms in a garlic sauce and the beef carpaccio, both cooked with fresh ingredients, again perfection.
The mains, we ordered the lasagne and the pork de la casa, again both delicious.
The service was prompt and professional. Until the large table came in behind us and the waiters all flocked to that table, must have been a local celeb, who knows. Seeing the large group and the attention they received, we put our order in fast!! The atmosphere was buzzing.
The whole food experience was worth the time. They do have a dress code, but it is not enforced. Many of guys were wearing shorts, and trainers sat down, eating.
Now I downvoted because the menu states at the bottom, all prices INCLUDE taxes and a service charge. When I asked for the bill, a young waitress brought it over and I checked it, yes €102 was correct. Then she brought over the card machine, entered the bill amount and the next screen said, TIP, no tip, 10%, 15%, etc. Now when a restaurant adds a service charge that is the tip! I have to question is this a scam to trick the tourists in adding a SECOND TIP? Needless to say, I clicked no tip, entered my pin, and the waitress looked at my receipt and threw my receipt onto the table in front of me.
All in all a good experience, but I...
Read moreA really good Italian restaurant in the heart of Paphos and perfect for both vegetarians and meat lovers. The menu includes a big number of delicious dishes. Some of them are classic italian dishes and some have a more modern twist.
We had the garlic bread as a started. It was delicious but to be honest you can really go wrong with a garlic bread.
For mains we had the Spaghetti al forno. Spaghetti with chicken, mushroom and pesto in a tomato based sauce with mozzarella finished in the oven. Cheesy and full of flavor!
We also had tagliatelle con pollo, a pasta dish With chicken and mushrooms in a fresh creamy and pesto sauce. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente and the sauce was delicious.
I was not mind-blown by any of the dishes but that is not a bad thing. Some times you crave something simple, classic and delicious and Duomo offers just that.
The portions are really filling and the prices reasonable. You can tell that they use good quality ingredients and that they put extra care when preparing each dish.
The atmosphere is really nice and the interior design, warm and welcoming. The staff is really friendly and always willing to help.
In the end of our meal they offered us some traditional Italian panna cotta which was on the house. So kind of them! The panna cotta was excellent both in taste and texture and it was the perfect way to end our dinner.
I would gladly go back to try more of their dishes!
If you are ever in Paphos and you like Italian food definitely visit Duomo and you are not gonna be...
Read moreWe had previously visited Duomo approximately 7 years ago when my partner and I first began dating. Coming back 7 years later as a married couple really gave us nostalgia! It’s safe to safely Duomo has had renovations since our last visit, but what hasn’t changed is the amazing staff and the fabulous food!
We luckily didn’t have to book and managed to get a table inside. We ordered some cocktails to get things started before ordering some food.
We opted to share the prosciutto & Parmesan salad (Rocket, cherry tomatoes, prosciutto, parmesan shavings, croutons and balsamic vinegar). The salad was a good size portion to share between two.
For mains, we ordered two pizzas. The Athletes Special Pizza (Tomato, mozzarella cheese, goat's cheese, bacon, egg, parmesan flakes) & the Argentina (Beef, caramelised onion, mozzarella cheese and chimichurri spice.)
The pizza’s were absolutely amazing and the portion size was spot on. We were thinking of having a dessert however we were so full, so our waiter instead offered us to have two limoncello’s as a night cap which went down well!
Overall, we were glad to come back to Duomo and try their food again, the menu has so many options it can be hard to choose from. It is an expensive night out however you do pay for good service and good...
