The food is terrible! I am VERY familiar with Greek & Cypriot food & what they're serving is an insult to their heritage. Firstly the Taramasalata dip was AWFUL. They definitely aren't using enough fish eggs to make this dip, it's tasteless & has a strong onion & lemon flavour with a pink colouring which they are using a dye to fool customers because the pink comes from the fish roe mixed through & there's barely any fish eggs at all. If you're Greek/Cypriot & you can't get one of the most basic cultural dishes to taste any good, you should give up cooking.
The Calamari was terrible, very oily & tough to chew, I couldn't even get my fork to pierce it. The Grilled Aubergine was like a uni student cooking his first meal & it tasted that bad too. Again very oily, covered in garlic powder & dried herbs but still hard inside. The only saving grace was dousing it all in a huge squeeze of lemon juice. The chips were actually good though, they are made from cut potatoes. Also the Tzatziki was good.
The bread given to us should have been an embarrassment for them - it was half a piece of pita bread cut into 4 pieces the size of 2 fingers each piece & it ROCK HARD. I could have used it as a weapon it was so hard. Clearly left in their oven WAY too long but didn't bother to make a new one. The Pina Colada was also awful, like a milkshake. The food is not cooked here with love or passion, the staff feel the same lack of passion & the owner is only in it for tourist rip off money....
Read moreMy friends and I were dubious about going to eat here at first cause it’s squashed between a lot of ‘tourist tailored’ restaurants and thought it was going to be very mediocre! But I’m so glad we went in, specifically drawn in by its raw charm and cosy authentic atmosphere.
The owner Christos was so friendly and helpful, he helped us choose wisely from the menu in order to not repeat some dishes for starter and main course , even though it meant it wouldn’t be as expensive an order! He helped us choose wines accordingly and even gave us complimentary salad and Greek coffees! The food was superb! Everything was fresh tasting and a lot of love and care had gone into everything we were served!
After dinner, we all sat outside in the open air section and chatted about random things with Christos while having our coffee! We even had his friend/colleague play some violin for us while we had coffee!!
He also recommended places for us to visit deep in the mountains which we took his advice and went to! All around pleasant experience and an unforgettable one!
Thanks to everyone at the restaurant, we had a...
Read moreCame here for dinner and spotted the 3 course menu. I was prepared to just go for the steak anyway, so to get 3 courses for basically the same price was great value.
The starter, we both went for the soup of the day which was vegetable. Really delicious thick soup with bread and garlic butter dip .
Mains , I had the t-bone steak. The steak was really big, juicy and well cooked, I asked for it medium and it was just that for the most part. Some parts were a bit rarer, but not a complaint as its a very large steak to get medium all the way, and also it tasted great. My only thing to say it that it lacked a bit of finesse, a seasoning or glase, herbs, and some more basting with butter would have brought an even better flavour. But you can't complain with what it costs.
Onto the pudding, both had the pancakes with ice-cream. Taste amazing and the honey on the pancakes worked very well against the cool vanilla ice- cream.
Overall, well worth the price. You won't be disappointed and will leave full and happy. Good atmosphere in the dining room and live music with traditional Greek music will leave...
