Best dorm I have ever been! Interesting history and architecture (good place to be when you're interested in architecture, design and arts). Great atmosphere and the best way to get to know Danes and get familiar with Danish culture when you're an exchange student. Big room with many places where to put personal stuff. Bathroom included in your room and a possibility to have a balcony. Common kitchen fully-furnished, with lots of ustensiles (mainly brand new), and a specific kitchen's common room that is shared with the other kitchens of the dorm (køkken). Everything is made to socialise, chill out and share passions with others: weekly and monthly events (cooking, board games, debates, sports competitions, arts contests, themed parties), Tour de Tietgen (August), in addition to køkken's own activities (common dinner, tour de chambre, tour de cuisine, tour de block), music room, movie room, gym, party room. Easily the best student residence in Denmark! If you have chance to pick don't hesitate. The people (mostly Danish) are great and always willing to help. The building has been constructed to promote social activities: it is circular with the common rooms (kitchen, living, balcony, etc) facing the center and the apartments, the outside. There are in total 30 sections (6 stories), each one with 12 rooms (one is shared) and a very big and modern kitchen, where common dinners are often organized. The rooms themselves are spacey and have its one bathroom. On the ground floor there are common rooms you can use anytime: bike storage, gym, printing room, study room, laundry and even sewing and wood work locations! My honest first impression was that it felt as if I had just walked into a luxurious hotel or dorm suitable for celebrities. I have seen my fair share of dorms from many countries and continents and this one without a doubt ranks among the best if not THE best I’ve seen!
