The concept of beer and burger is a classic, an amazing classic. Fatty's is an embodiment of the concept taken to another level, the first restaurant in Islands Brygge has a hipster spirit with classic Danish/Scandinavian twist of lightning, wood and just a cozy (hyggelig) feel.
The food itself is just amazing, burgers are kept simple and I love the sauce, it is a classic burger sauce with ketchup mayo and mustard yet it's very buttery, almost reminds me of hollandaise sauce in consistency. The cheeseburger choice that I got had sauce, meat, cheese, two pickles, and a bunch of sliced red onion with a nice amount of fries kept between two lovely toasted brioche buns. The meat patties are grilled on a cast iron skillet which gives a smokey flavour to the meat and melts the cheese right on the meat patty while giving little bit of crust on the outside. From what the lovely staff in Fatty's told me, they get their meat from a dutch (NL) seller and then form the patties themselves.
If you try the fries, they are classic American thick cut fries, crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. Again it's kept pretty simple, just salt as a seasoning but kept on the highest quality.
Usually you spend 150kr for the food and around 200kr if you get a beer too, although you have to order and pay separately for the beer, even though the counters are right next to each other.
One thing I would recommend is to serve napkins with the burger, especially because of the concept of beers and burgers. When you're eating and want to take a sip of beer it's better if you don't have to grab the glass with messy hands 😁 You can get napkins at the counter of course.
Fatty's burger has to be amongst the top 3 in the whole Copenhagen and these thick cut fries are not that common in the city, if you adore them like me you definitely have to try...

Before heading to Copenhagen it seemed that almost every "best of list" had Gasoline Grill as the Mecca and a handful of others whose position moved up and down on each list. Somehow these lists did not include Fatty's.
Well I went to the others including the original Gasoline grill and I went to Fatty's. Fatty's was so good I went twice, a week apart to see if they got lucky on night one. No, they did not get lucky. Visit number two was as good as visit number one.
Fresh! Juicy! Lot's of choices! Order your burger exactly as you want! Delicious! The sister beer hall is an added bonus with twenty plus options on draft. Lots of seating inside and out with numerous TV's.
FATTY's is hands down the BEST BURGER in Copenhagen, very possibly all of Europe and would be on every top ten list in any major American city. That's...
Read moreDon’t be fooled by the quiet exterior—Fatty’s Burger is a very happening spot. I dropped by on a weekday afternoon expecting a laid-back vibe, but the place was nearly full with friends sharing mugs of beer and lively conversation. It has that relaxed, local hangout feel that instantly makes you feel welcome.
Now, onto the chicken burger: absolutely spot-on. The patty was juicy and flavorful, clearly made with quality meat and cooked to perfection. What really stood out to me was the bread—fresh, soft, and delicately flavored, it held everything together without overpowering the star ingredients. Each bite had the perfect balance of texture and taste. The chicken wings in hot sauce is worth mentioning and worth a try if love a tangy spicy flavor.
Whether you’re there for a quick bite or to catch up with friends, Fatty’s delivers both flavor and atmosphere. Definitely...
