Hoyo Azul Excursions — Attraction in Higüey

Our Excursion was through Scape.

The water was cold, deep, and blue... You are under a Limestone overhang, so there is no direct sunlight. The staff basically let you do whatever you wanted to do: Diving, Flips, & Swimming. We stayed for a little over an hour.

I suggest: Do not drink the non-bottled water - 2 people in our group that drank the water had gastric distress. Bring a towel - You will be wet and cold. Wear older clothes - The swim trunks etc. feel gritty and smell pretty bad after you leave. They offer semi secure lockers and a changing area in the facility to store changes of clothes.

We walked about 10 minutes from the Scape Facilities through a wooded area on a natural path. Several people were bitten by mosquitoes, so you may want to take the precaution of using bug repellant. The walk was not difficult, but there was a narrow section of path under a rock and several stairs. The blue hole was very beautiful. It is in a cave, so there is not much sunlight. The color is beautiful. The water is cold as to be expected. It was very deep but they supply life vest if you can't swim. There are two levels to jump in from and one way to walk in. The staff spoke minimal English but enough to understand the basics. They need a bit more structure, it was like the blind leading the blind but it was fine we understood where to go and what to do. We had lunch included in our package, it was a buffet outside and flies were near the food. My husband ate I did not trust it as I don't trust buffets period. We also ziplined which was amazing!!!!! I would definitely recommend this place...

It's beautiful and very safety. Perfect to bring your family and kids. Basically the best I saw it's how beautiful is the park and how many things we ca do there zipline, beautiful caves, natural pools, the walks, the nature, everything in some beautiful and safety...
