Temple of Deir el-Medina — Attraction in New Al Qarnh City

Beautifull place with beautifull tombs and frescoes. Unfortunately the touts are worse here. I had one guy following me. Apparently he was just "working" at the place and was no guide. Had no Id although I asked him. He was just following me and showing me stuff. Took me a good 10minutte before he understood I just wanted to be by myself. Then he returned...and I left the place to go to Rammessum or home....! It are these guys that destroy the whole experience.

Also their first approach as everywhere in Egypt is "where are you from". Instead of just taking pictures and looking at things there is a few minutes of them playing a guessing game. Only at Deir- el - Medineh they wont leave you afterwards

Afternote; It got worse at Ramessum. I Would not reccomend the west...

The three tombs here are really pretty but quite small. I liked it but I think it's because I visited it before the valley of the kings and the valley of the queens. If you visit it after it would seem not grand enough. The area is interesting though with all the remains of an old village and a small temple...

Diesen Tempel erbauten einst die Ptolemäer und er wurde nach deren Abtritt - und dem erwachenden Christentum - zu einer Kirche, an die auch ein Kloster angeschlossen wurde. Dieses Gebäude präsentiert sich heute als eine Ruine, von der allerdings ein Teil des Tempels erhalten geblieben ist und inzwischen Zeit saniert wurde. Heute findet der Besucher hier einen sehr ansprechenden Tempelkomplex, der aus 3 Teilen besteht und dessen Säulen und Räume zahlreiche sehr interessante Details besitzen. Besonders erfreulich ist außerdem, dass dieses Objekt abseits des touristischen Trampelpfades liegt und deshalb kaum besucht wird. Auch wir waren völlig allein und stellten eine großartige Ruhe und Atmosphäre fest. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt hier. Ein Hinweis: Diesen Besuch des Tempels kann man problemlos (zu Fuß) kombinieren mit der Besichtigung von Dorf und Gräbern, den anderen Teilen des Deir-Komplexes. Außerdem ist es nicht weit zum Tal...
