Åland Maritime Museum is a monument to history of Aland as the holder the world's largest fleet of wooden sailing ships. Be sure to visit the four-masted barque named Pommern, built in Glasgow in 1903, which is anchored behind the museum. The interior of the museum is built like a ship's prow cutting into the land. Our cruise ship was docked right next door so very easy to walk over after we had the included cruise tour in morning. Give your self a couple of hours to visit the museum inside and ship outside. When on the ship as price of admission you are provided an audio phone setup to listen to a guided tour of ship. The speakers describe life aboard ship during a fishing cruise.

A virtual trip with the Pommern in the 1930s, from Mariehamn to Port Victoria in southern Australia, with the help of a magnificent audio guide, the stories of travelers accompany you as you cross key-corners of the sailing ship. At times you feel like you were on the move too, if you let yourself be carried away by the lights, sounds and other multimedia applications that are activated as you pass by. The naval museum on the shore, next to the vessel is also beautiful and interesting. You can see ship building, safety on the see and working mechanisms of a steem engine and hundreds of details of the life connected to the sea and to the navigation.

Ingbyberget is a delightful gem in the Åland Islands! The short, family-friendly hike through the lush forest to the Trollkyrkan cave is a fun for kids and adults alike. The viewing tower offers stunning panoramic views, and the expansive stone fields at the summit create a unique, almost otherworldly landscape. With a barbecue area to relax and enjoy, it’s a charming spot for a memorable day out. Highly recommend for a quick, scenic escape!

Really good museum. Most of it is recently renovated and well accessible for handicapped people and people with strollers. Some of the older parts of the museum are less accessible though, but its not insurmountable getting past the few obstacles there are.

It's s good place to do after checking out from your hotel and wait for the ferry off the island. Pretty good place to bring the kids as there's an audio guide on the ship and a small treasure hunt inside the museum.

Kids under 7 get in for free.

Unfortunately none of the museums on the islands have a cafe, that includes this one. There is however a high tier restaurant in the same building and an outdoor serving area which is open during the...

The exhibition was quite interesting. I was not that interested in all the model ships, but that's personal taste. You can tell that the people working there care for the museum in a loving way.

But in the winter season when you can't visit the ship Pommern, 16 Euro is way too much for entry. Why can't you just sell the tickets in winter for 8 Euro? Oh sure, you can "reuse" the ticket a second time, but come on, who does that? Which new information could you possibly get out of this? This argument seems very deceptive. In summer I think it's quite fair for the combonation of museum and ship, but in winter? Without this ticket policy it would have been 5 stars as I gave the Ålands cultural...
