The Hotel has a great location and very nice rooms (exept the old rooms at the 2 floor). There is sadly no fridge in any of the rooms. The female at the front desk Saturday evening and Sunday morning could use a service lession. Not a good attitude at all. Did not feel welcome, and it's the first time in all these years staying at Holiday Club Saariselka we have experienced such.

Our experience at Holiday Club Saariselka has been good most of the time, sadly a few of the staff bring the score down. Our last visit at Holiday Club 26 - 28 August 22 was okey, to bad the steam sauna is still the same and totally horrible as of how the construction goes. And the aroma sauna was still closed, been the same over one month now. Holiday club is well know to have one of the most expencive Spa's in Finland. So we do expect things working and working well. Saariselka is the only Holiday Club that has such a horrible steam room.

The Steam room outlet is built and located totally wrong. The heat is really hot from the waist and up, and really cold down to the feet. It's been like this since the reopening some years ago. Have been telling the hotel about this issue for years. To big gap at the doors, steam compressor is to high up and take up space where there could have been 2 more seats. No lower floor level in the steam room where cold air could escape without bringing out the warm air at the same time. Right outside the door is some vent in the shower room roof wich withdraw a lot of warm steam out every time the door is opened. And the doors does not have automatic closing pump, often left open by guests. If the steam compressor had it's outlet low by the floor, it would work a lot better, give more seats available and there would be less compressor noice in the steam room.

The wave machine in the pool did stop working after the first 2 or 3 years. And jacuzzi water is to cold.

Holiday Club has Spa's all over Finland and plenty of knowledge about Spa. Why does not the owner's do it right, and fix things when it's broken? And still charge full price of a spa that is less then half value?

Got to say the life guards are amazing, always polite, keeps it very clean and tidy. They do a great job to keep us safe at all time. Sadly they got a tuff job with some of the tourists from UK and China who does not shower before using the saunas and pools. Not easy to tell grown up's what a normal rutine and hygiene is in Scandinavia! And don't use swimsuits in the saunas, the chlor fumes can be real bad when swim wear dries out. And the body need to absorb the heat naturally all over.

We will still be using Holiday Club and of course the one in Saariselka. But we really hope the steam room and all saunas will be working...

We did 3 nights at this hotel with Santa's lapland, and overall no complaints. The hotel is one of the better ones in the area, the downside is the pool was closed but not the be all and end all.||If you are going to this hotel in the winter season then your there for the magic of christmas and on a short stay so you spend very little time in the hotel anyway, The food choices weren't amazing and wasn't a great deal to choose from but there was always something for the kids sausage and chips, chicken nuggets etc so you won't starve. If you get hungry between meal times you can get hotdogs and sandwiches. ||Rooms are not cleaned daily but again short stay so doesn't really matter. The hotel is in a prime location with a bar over the road supermarket to the right 500m down the road and to the left is more hotels another bar and the toboggan slopes.||All the staff are helpful and friendly the rooms are OK can be slightly crowded in the rooms if your are a family of 3 or more but again need to remember where you are it's a very seasonal place and only short stays this is not a hotel for long stay unless you get one of the apartments.||The hotel is pricey but Finland as a whole I'd very pricey €9.60 for a pint and if you actually get a full pint you be lucky but again it is expected and should be costed into your stay. There is a a couple of slightly cheaper places to get food and drinks but your talking pennies not a massive amount.||Overall would stay again and...

Outdated, overpriced little place. But gets the job done. We're basically here to check out the northern lights. Which were a success. No lifts so if you have heavy baggage, your taking them down long corridors and up a flight of stairs. Which i dont mind the excercise. I dont like that i had to sleep in a twin sized bed. Im with my girl friend and I really enjoy being next to her in bed. So that was a real bummer. They have a towel warmer in the bathroom that works really well. I wouldn't mind having one of those at home. Pool and sauna close early, 8:30. So that was another bummer. Amenities should be 24hr. To fit everyone's schedules. And the fire alarms sounded off on the 2nd floor right as we were getting ready for bed. Rushing everyone outside for an hour while fire dept checked and turned off the alarms. It turned out to be a false alarm. But 3 hours later i still cant sleep. It might be also because the beds, which are tiny, and are really uncomfortable. The pillows are terrible too. Or maybe its the really bright lights coming in from the windows. The curtains dont close all the way and their practically transparent. Food in the resturant is another negative. Im not a fan of buffets. Im not a meat loaf kind of guy. And my other choice was salmon. And it didnt look right. The soup and food was really salty. My stomach has been killing me since after dinner. Im hoping breakfast is better. So I gave it a one star because of great location and staff...

A disappointing arrival at reception where we were greeted with "Do you have a car? Your apartment is 1000m away, and you may have difficulty in the snow." When we asked what help they provided we were told we could get a taxi for 8 Euros. We walked. They could be more helpful and perhaps provide a snowmobile service to take luggage to cabins. The reception and bar area was always full of people and suitcases. Many families on packages to see Santa. The package tour guests had daily use of the pool, but exchange guests have to pay 18 euros each for a couple of hours! We declined. There was not an inviting atmosphere in the reception area. We used sleds to bring our luggage back to reception on checking out. The luggage room is not locked and not large enough when coach parties are leaving. Reception staff were very helpful when we had a problem with the bus timetable for getting to the airport. Not all buses run, even if on the timetable so check the days departures beforehand. Our apartment was very warm and comfortable. It was well supplied with everything we needed, washer, drying cabinet and sauna too. The supermarket, shops, restaurants and activity centres were all within walking distance. The restaurant Rakka at the hotel was good, excellent service from very pleasant servers, with delicious food and comparable prices to others in the area. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in a resort town that offers plenty of winter activities at varying prices.

A Winter Retreat Wrapped in the Shadows of Saariselkä Our stay at the Holiday Club Saariselkä felt like a cozy hideaway amidst the winter wilderness, nestled within the snow-covered trees. This resort, though built for skiers, welcomes all travelers with spacious rooms that feel like a luxurious refuge after a long day of exploring. The hot showers were nothing short of divine—like a fiery embrace warding off the chill of the Arctic night. The daily breakfast buffet was a banquet that left us well-fueled and ready for the frozen adventures ahead. Fresh bread, warming dishes, and local delicacies tempted us each morning. Tea and coffee were generously provided in the room, perfect for sipping while gazing out at the ethereal landscape beyond our window. Conveniently located, this resort lets you slip into the heartbeat of Saariselkä with just a short walk. Whether it was a visit to the local bowling alley, a meander through the charming shopping mall, or a drink at a nearby pub, everything was within reach—each step through the snow leading us into the quirky, hidden corners of this enchanted town. Ski storage was provided for those ready to hit the slopes, but even as non-skiers, we appreciated the thoughtful design that makes this resort a great base for all kinds of winter escapades. Clean, well-kept, and with a touch of Arctic magic, Holiday Club Saariselkä felt like our winter home away from home.

Fantastic location in the village of Saariselka 25 minutes coach trip from Ivalo airport. Thick snow everywhere setting a magical Christmas scene for our 2 night stay. The hotel itself is all on a ground floor level and has a wonderful heated pool that is free for the residents to use...& we did. The bedrooms are very basic, similar to Travelodge standard. We asked for a family room to accommodate two adults & 2 grandchildren. Our room had two single beds pushed together & a pull out settee for the 2 children. Adequate at best. Unfortunately our room had been missed by the cleaners & we had to ask at reception to clean it. They did this immediately taking around 20 minutes. The staff were very apologetic & when we returned from swimming they had left us chocolates & vouchers for fizzy wine to redeem at the bar. Very good customer service. Well done. Food was buffet style self service. Nothing spectacular but you won't starve. The hotel can get very busy around breakfast time as people prepare for excursions or to vacate their rooms. Good choice of food, again self service. Bar prices are higher than the UK. Most bottles of wine are 29 euros. Pint of lager around 9 euros. We sat in the lounge area by the log fire having a Merlot while watching the snow fall. Wonderfully relaxing. Temperature outside averaged -9 which I am told is warm for December.
