It’s easy to get caught up with all the churches and trinket stores in the main drag of Lourdes that you might overlook this beautiful museum. One of the few non-religion based attraction, it catalogues the life in this small town and have exhibits of various artefacts used in day to day life before it became Catholic Disneyland. The €7 entrance will be well worth it when you reach the top of the Château and see the breathtaking sweeping views of Lourdes surrounded by the Pyrenees mountains. Everywhere you turn you’re just bombarded with postcard-like scenery, birds chirping, fresh air...it’s unreal! My unexpected favourite were the miniature structures of various villas and Châteaus where they incorporated natural landscaping to make it look like the gardens of these miniature beauties. I’ve been trying to google them but oddly couldn’t find a lot of info on them. Anyway, take a look at the photos or better yet, go see for yourself :) useful info: Try to go on a sunny day! the trek up the museum is an easy walk for fit people. You may find yourself huffing and puffing if you’re not used to walking but it’s all part of the fun! Most exhibits are in French but I don’t mind that, I saw an actual spindle in real life and instantly thought about sleeping beauty. Not everything has to be explained in English to me. Make sure you enter the museum in the main entrance where the museum store is located so you can take the elevator up to the starting point of the museum. It’s a self guided tour that you can easily do yourself. This is my personal preference as I don’t like to be herded around like sheep and I can spend as much or as little time I want in specific areas plus take a million photos without some guide screaming at me that it’s time to go. hope this is...

Visiting Château Fort Musée Pyrénéen was an unforgettable experience that beautifully combines history, culture, and breathtaking views. Perched atop a hill in Lourdes, this historic fortress offers a unique glimpse into the rich heritage of the Pyrenees region.

The château itself is an impressive structure, steeped in history and surrounded by well-preserved medieval walls. As you explore the museum inside, you’ll find a remarkable collection of artifacts, traditional costumes, and exhibits that vividly portray the life, culture, and traditions of the Pyrenean people. The displays are thoughtfully curated, making it easy to appreciate the historical significance of each item.

One of the highlights of the visit is the panoramic view from the château’s ramparts. The sweeping vistas of Lourdes, the surrounding countryside, and the majestic Pyrenees mountains are absolutely stunning and make the climb to the top well worth it. It’s a perfect spot for photography or simply soaking in the beauty of the landscape.

The museum is well-organized and offers a wealth of information about the history of the region, the château, and its transformation into a museum. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience with their insights and...
