This is a rather unusual and very interesting basilica. I loved the many beautiful stone sculpted ornaments, both outside and inside. But there is a lot more to the building that makes it worth a visit. Was very surprised this location was not mentioned in the popular travel guide...

Una meravigliosa basilica romanica, in cui è ancora possibile apprezzare molti aspetti originari spesso perduti in edifici così antichi nei numerosi restauri che sempre avvengono nel corso dei secoli: dalla vivace colorazione degli affreschi che ricoprivano le superfici interne e che ancora si leggono su vari pilastri alla irregolarità del pavimento in ciottoli di fiume che con i suoi saliscendi continui fa sembrare di essere in una enorme strada porticata. La parte absidale, che si può vedere benissimo grazie alla ampia piazza è un tripudio di volumi che si legano sotto ed intorno alla torre del tiburio, nella varietà di rossi, gialli, bruni ed ocra della pietra...
