Musée de la Carte Postale — Attraction in Grasse

We arrived at the museum around 5pm. The owner said we couldn't visit the museum in 1 hour. Still, we really wanted to visit the museum because the theme interested us a lot. Thankfully, he let us in because what an unique experience and gem this place is! The man was very friendly and made sure all our audio guides were perfectly working. The most important things were explained short and clearly. During the visit, I understood why you need more than an hour for this visit. You just want to discover all the details that's being told about these postcards.. Suddenly the owner came to us to tell us we had an extra 15 minutes after closing time. We were really grateful. The museum looks little, but I have spent there the best hours of my summer holidays. There are a lot of originals postcards, their order is meticulously chosen by Christian Deflandre: collector, writer, humanist and philanthropist. Mister Deflandre has an excellent sense of humour and he knows how to tell stories and those cards are a series of stories; all those stories together will give to the visitors a pretty interesting view on two hundred years of history, of living history. I really recommend to visit that little museum, it's charming and it will let you the curious impression that life can really turn a simple piece of paper...

Museo molto particolare, poco fuori il centro storico di Antibes (una passeggiata di 10 minuti). Tutti i turisti si riversano in massa al Museo Picasso, ma questo piccolo museo a mio parere è molto più interessante. Ingresso 8 euro, compresa l'audio guida in diverse lingue. Sappiate però che il tempo di visita è di almeno 1 ora e mezzo, o a che due: questo è il tempo necessario per seguire le vetrine su cui sono esposte le cartoline con l'audio guida, interessante e ben fatta. Insomma, non è un museo un cui si capita per caso, ma bisogna volerci andare e dedicargli il giusto tempo. Questa straordinaria collezione, che credo sia unica al mondo, nasce dalla passione del proprietario, che nel corso della vita ha collezionato migliaia di cartoline, compresa la prima cartolina della storia! Attraverso le cartoline si segue la storia dell'umanità dal tardo 1800 fino ai giorni nostri! Fidatevi: non potete immaginare cosa raccontano tutte queste immagini! Alcune sono vere e proprie opere d'arte, altre raccontano mestieri scomparsi, altre ancora sono della cartoline/puzzle. E sapevate che sono esistite cartoline di metallo, di stoffa, di piume di pavone, di cappelli umani o che le cartoline si potevano incidere come se fossero dei vinili? Avete mai spedito una cartolina con l'immagine di una sala operatoria? E una con una donna con la barba? E poi cartoline con messaggi segreti, con immagini scabrose o satiriche, cartoline che segnano le ore, cartoline fatte con la cacca di elefante o che contengono il peto di un orso (e non sto scherzando)!
