Beware: Extremely unfriendly staff, smelly and noisy rooms.
I barely ever leave reviews (especially not bad ones) but in this specific case, I was extremely shocked about how the staff treats their customers in a so called 4 star accommodation and I want to inform other potential guests prior to booking.
The only good thing about the place is its location, the rest is far away from what you should expect from a 4 star location. Old furniture and partially broken equipment in the room, super bad smell in the bathroom with the toilet (old pipes I guess), insects in the shower, and the noise the pool makes at night was deafening. If you want to sleep, you better keep your windows shut, otherwise it is impossible.
Now, I have experienced hotels before that are not as nice as you expect them to be but barely ever staff THIS rude. This is how the story unfolded:
Unfortunately my boyfriend and I made a mistake as for the checkout time which should not happen but it did. There was a prior miscommunication between me and my agency who had booked the accommodation in the first place. Now: it is never about who was at fault but how professional staff deals with issues like this.
A blonde lady knocked at 11:10 to tell us she was trying to call but we had hung up on her - which is not true as we have never received a call. She came to tell us that the Checkout was at 11. I apologized to her, told her that it was our mistake and that we finish up as soon as we can. At 11:35 she had sent up the cleaning lady - basically to kick us out - but luckily we were finished right then, otherwise the poor lady would have had to wait.So instead of 11 we were ready by around 11:40.
We walked down to the reception to return the keys. The same blonde lady was waiting at the desk and if looks could kill, I would have dropped dead in that specific moment. I am not sure if she disliked me because of my darker complexion, because we were a little late or because she was having a bad day (or maybe everything together) but as a customer I expect to be treated in a decent and respectful way because we are basically paying your wages.
To top it all off she pressured me into paying tourist tax (which I do not have a problem with at all) although I had told her before that my agency was to cover for me as they had booked the room. She still insisted and my words just seemed to worsen her demeanor which is why I paid in the end, leaving me with a very uneasy feeling.
We are spending quite a bit of time in the South of France and if you are too, I strongly advise you to look for a better place than this - especially if you expect to be treated with respect and courtesy. Unfortunately, this was definitely our first and last time at Pierre...
Read morePerfectly situated at edge of old town Antibes with 2 large swimming pools and a clean laundry room. We stayed in a 1BR with sleep nook (bunk bed/closet) for over 2 weeks in early June. Our room had a bad smell upon arrival and the staff did everything they could to get rid of it, but it took about a week for smell to go away. Probably related to pipes. Apartment was very roomy, lots of storage with large balcony, nice sized dining table. Tiny kitchen. Some street noise but generally quiet. AC (mini-splits) worked great although the sleep nook did not have an AC unit. Apartment had toilet room, shower room and a room with a sink and tub/shower combo. Looks like it was recently redone except couches. Sleeps 5-6. Spartan decoration but overall a comfortable place for long stay. Staff at front desk and cleaners/maintenance incredibly nice, professional and helpful, but reception hours somewhat limited. Pool only open from 9am-7pm. With the heat, it would have been great to take a night swim at least in summer. The only real negative was that internet speed very low despite us purchasing the high speed package (which they kindly did not charge us for when we told them the speeds we were getting). Also, for longer stays, you get a weekly cleaning where they will replenish toilet paper, bath, hand and kitchen towels. If you don’t want to shop for toilet paper and dishwasher tabs you may want to opt for a few extra cleanings. No shampoo or conditioner provided (only bar soup) so bring your own. No pool towels provided either but you can buy in town cheaply. We hope to...
Read moreWe spent fourteen nights here in a spacious ground floor apartment but felt the whole facility needed to be modernised and upgraded. Our room had excellent air conditioning but no working safe and a sliding entrance window that on most occasions refused to lock properly. We had to raise and lower industrial style metal shutters to make the place secure. It took more than three days before anyone came to look at the problem and even then the difficulty remained. The reception area is gloomy, old fashioned and open only for very restricted hours. Most of the time it felt pretty abandoned. We did like the tropical tree-planting which created a shady central garden area and the pool was inviting enough, albeit without any on-site catering apart from some vending machines. The rooms would benefit from having washing machines - we didn't much like the small washing room where one had to pay extra to wash and dry clothes. All in all, we felt that the residence was run by a penny-pinching management that was desperately trying to cut costs while trying to create the impression of offering a high quality service that simply...
