Visiting the Marseille Soap Museum was a fantastic experience! For only €2.50, we were treated to a beautiful and educational journey through the history and tradition of Marseille soap-making. The museum itself is charming, with informative displays that detail the process of creating the famous soap, as well as the significance it holds in local culture.
One of the highlights was learning about the traditional techniques and ingredients that make Marseille soap so unique. The exhibits were well-organized and easy to follow, providing a great mix of history, science, and local craftsmanship. It was fascinating to see how this centuries-old tradition continues to thrive today.
As a lovely bonus, each visitor is given a 100g bar of soap as a souvenir, which made the experience even more special. The soap smells amazing and is a wonderful reminder of our visit. It’s a great touch that adds excellent value to the already affordable entry price.

Read moreAs a person with a passionate interest in soap making I was very disappointed by the „tour“. The unfriendly staff lets you wait a long time to then not tell you anything you cannot read on the posters by yourself. Questions do not seem to be welcome and are answered short, unfriendly and incorrect. The only one who is really friendly seems to be the newest member of the team - hope is, she can bring a different attitude to the place. We also visited at cours julien, where people take more time to explain. But even there you can see (and learn from them directly) that soap making for them is not a passion, but just a job they do. You can feel that! Hope remains that someone comes to this business and explores the possibilities and love for this ancient craftsmanship.
It can be interesting for smaller children and the fact that the „tour“ is very short will help.
