The old Abbey is one of the most striking sites that you could see here in Marseille. It is very prominenent when you turn to look to your upper right when coming out from the tunnel of Prado-Carrenage and drive towards the Vieux-Port.
It has a really nice viewing deck just outside the Abbey where you could have a good view of Marseille and take thousands of beautiful photos. Inside the old church is a remnan of its ancient past that has been well-preserved. You could attend masses and have your wedding or your child's baptism here if you are a Roman Catholic. Most masses are in French but it is one way to help you practice the language, too.

You immediately understand not only the age of the building, but the time spent here over centuries. A ticket to the lower level is inexpensive and well worth it. The layers of use on the site are everywhere in the architecture and the rooms have undeniable presence.
