The old Abbey is one of the most striking sites that you could see here in Marseille. It is very prominenent when you turn to look to your upper right when coming out from the tunnel of Prado-Carrenage and drive towards the Vieux-Port.

It has a really nice viewing deck just outside the Abbey where you could have a good view of Marseille and take thousands of beautiful photos. Inside the old church is a remnan of its ancient past that has been well-preserved. You could attend masses and have your wedding or your child's baptism here if you are a Roman Catholic. Most masses are in French but it is one way to help you practice the language, too.

It speaks so much about Marseille's history. It's a little creepy if you go down and visit the old crypt below the church, but it definitely is an...

Prob the most beautiful church in the old port. Not the most ornate but simplistically beautiful. The crypts are a must. This is the best place to appreciate the past in Marseille.Simply beautiful !Don’t forget to go downstairs and visit the wonderful crypt ! This simple church is well worth stepping inside and taking in his beauty. Perched on the hill overlooking the old port of Marseille. This church looks like a medieval fort as build in middle age ! The most impressive part is the crypt which was a stone mine during Roman time.... 2000 years of history in one place with a great view over...

This visit stood out to people in our group; all of the perfectly preserved religious sites are beautiful, but sometimes don't have the same impact as stepping into somewhere like this. You immediately understand not only the age of the building, but the time spent here over centuries. A ticket to the lower level is inexpensive and well worth it. The layers of use on the site are everywhere in the architecture and the rooms have undeniable presence.

Don't skip this one; it doesn't take long to visit and it will definitely leave...

This abbey is ancient, and you can feel it from the moment you walk in. It is beautiful - realizing that it was constructed in the 4th-5th century makes its construction all the more impressive. There are also numerous relics from at least 8 different saints encased & on display to the left of the altar. If you’re not a fluent French speaker, important to note that most of the descriptions (of the history of the abbey, the relics) are not translated into English. Still very much worth a visit, though.
