Although designed in the 1930s, construction was delayed by WW2. The Église Sainte-Thérèse was eventually inaugurated in 1954. Sadly, the imposing exterior has not aged very well. The interior is very impressive. The stained-glass accentuates the vaulted roof structure and surrounds the interior with shafts of light and colour. Quite remarkable. Furniture and decoration appear mostly in keeping with the building's Art déco origins. A fundraising campaign is underway to pay for essential restoration work.

This is a must-see in Metz. It's unlike any church I've ever seen. It's stunning inside and out. On a Saturday afternoon i practically had the place to myself. It was a profound experience being in this space. I love the entire atmosphere the architecture and lighting creates. It's only a few minutes walk from the train station. I encourage everyone to visit.

Je m’y suis enfin rendue cette année 2022. Maintenant, je sais que j’avais tort. Une fois entrée dans la nef, je fus complètement émerveillée. À l’intérieur, sa beauté architecturale, le jeu de lumière et les vitraux-claustras font en réalité d’elle un lieu tellement bienveillant et chaleureux. Bien qu’il fasse plus sombre que dans d’autres églises, à vrai dire, je la trouve grandiose ! J’aime aussi énormément cette église pour sa sobriété et sa symétrie. Son atmosphère me laisse penser qu’elle est comme la lune. (Très différente du soleil mais qui a son importance !) Je m’y suis sentie apaisée et sereine (ça change du stress et de l’anxiété quotidien) C’est un lieu si calme et si reposant… Elle est en vérité vivifiante…

is this a secular country??!! It should be called the Republic of the Zoombies! It is enough to come to the neighborhood crowned by this sarcastic church that deafens the entire town ten times a day to the sound of its horrific bells that, of course, do nothing but torment, since THERE IS NO RELIGIOUS OFFICE, only torment! Sundays 8AM have the luxury of waking up the people! Is there anyone who can measure the impact they cause..? I never heard anything like it, 15 min of torment several times a day and no one even...
