A NIGHTMARE. We took the train to Nice St Augustin station, as instructed by fifa website and Antibes tourist office, where we were told we would get a shuttle bus to the stadium for the France v Norway match. Not only was there no shuttle bus, there was no sign anywhere about anything to do with the Womens World Cup or indeed the stadium itself. No map of the area, no taxis and no staff on duty. All of us going to the match simply started walking along the biggest road we could see. About 20 mins later we found a bus stop and waited. Eventually a bus picked us up and said it would take us to the stadium. It dropped us off about 10 mi a later on a dual carriageway where traffic had been stopped due to the match. We then walked to the stadium which took e us about one hour and 15 minutes. That was the easy bit. After the match thousands of people streamed out of the stadium and those without cars in parking lots could either go on foot or take the shuttle bus to the centre of Nice. There was no way we could get to back to Nice St Augustin to catch our train home without walking for nearly 2 hrs so we took the shuttle to Nice. THere we were faced with the choice of a hotel for €235 or a taxi for €100. Too late for trains or buses. It was the most criminally unorganized event imaginable. We have tickets for the match on 22 June but will certainly not be going anywhere near Nice stadium again. We are out of...
Read moreGot on the first tram stop to the stadium which was very lucky as if I tried to get on any stop after the second I wouldn’t have gotten on (2 hours before the game) the stadium was impressive and volunteers were very helpful with a great atmosphere at the rugby match. Beer was expensive though. When leaving, police lined the streets which was very encouraging at first until I joined the tram queue. A lot of people were queuing politely but then a lot were skipping the queue which the police were simply watching making them all pretty much equivalent to a chocolate fire guard. They were simply dreadful and pointless. We ended up walking a bit to the shuttle buses which were ok in the end but the organisation at the end of the game was terrible which made our overall experience frustrating after a good game within the...
Read moreEven before the fracas louts sitting in our seats using their single brain cell each to make it clear we couldn't possibly ask them to move. Then more loutish fans hurling plastic bottles towards opposing players then mass pitch invasion when a player lobbed it back. The club needs to sort its stewarding and get a grip. Bar supporters involved for life and start with regular stewardship of the terraces from where it starts with infractions like us being unable to take our own seats without intimidation. As visitors we thought it would be a great experience but in fact based on this I'd recommend any visitor to avoid it like Covid. As a result we didn't even get to see a full match and felt threatened and intimidated throughout. And we've plenty of experience of...
