So this should give other people who are going to stay here maybe some information that was hard to find when I was trying to plan our family stay... is Lord knows you're lucky to get anybody on the phone at the facilities to answer these questions
Transport into Paris is possible using the shuttle service at the campground. We found however that if you try to catch the first shuttle at 9:00 a.m. when it starts, the line is long and the shuttle bus fills up quickly. We could not get on a shuttle bus ride until the 11:00 hour as the shuttle line filled the bus every time the bus returned. The shuttle runs every half hour. But I believe it stops between noon and 4ish.
The tickets for the shuttle bus are non-refundable so if you don't mind sitting around at the campground waiting for the shuttle bus to have room for you, buy tickets or get to the shuttle bus line really early.
We ended up just walking to the Paris Transit bus stop which is located not too far from the campground. You can catch the 244 bus from the bus stop not too far from the campground which runs about every 15 minutes. It is approximately a 8 minute walk from the campground. This bus gets you to the Transportation Hub where you can catch the train into the downtown. Several train lines connect at that station that the 244 bus drops you at. to get back to the campground from the Transportation hub, you would again use the 244 line and it is approximately a 15-minute trip on the bus from the train station to the bus stop that is about a 8 minute or less walk to the campground. There are some other bus lines that you could take to get you to the campground.
My poor rating of our stay at the city Campground was due in large part to the staff. The girls at the check-in counter were irritated by questions one of them even rolled her eyes at me as I was trying to gain information on the facilities and check in and check out processes and requirements. She didn't seem to want to be bothered by my questions. Maybe I misread her facial expressions but she seemed to be pretty frustrated that she was being talked to. The Barista at the bar who was making coffee in the morning seemed pretty disinterested in his job too. he poured out half my drink cause I told him I wanted it in a "to go" cup. so he took my reusable cup they use for dine in service, and poured it into a tiny paper cup half the size of the dine in cup. nothing like paying 4.50 for something, and then getting half of it thrown away, that way you only get half of what you pay for. my wife also had a similar experience.
I felt really bad that I bothered the employees with my needs as their paying guests
We have a family of five and found that after one shower, not a very long shower, the hot water heater was depleted and took several hours to get hot again. really slow hot water heater.
And it was super frustrating to try to get somebody on the phone to find out information. The day we were supposed to arrive I was trying to figure out how we can catch the shuttle to the location, I called probably 20 times and no one ever answered the phone. I know that people were at the desk because when I arrived at the check-in grumpy people were sitting there ready to check us in. well one of the girls was grumpy, the other one may have not been, she didn't say much. Maybe something is wrong with their phone lines?
Also they allowed late night loud merry makingto go on, which is fine and we are happy people were having a good time. but what is the quiet time policy? and we had a couple of drunk people sitting on our front porch at one point of the night making themselves at home and fighting. I only realized they were on the front porch the following morning because I found stuff on the front porch, chairs rearranged. during the night I just thought, " wow those people sound really close" but all the cabins are pretty close so I didn't investigate.
would it stay here again? yes, but I have lower expectations so I know I won't be disappointed. it may even be cheaper to...
Read moreLovely site, just out side of Paris. Long walk into city centre (approx 90 mins) but there is a great shuttle bus that runs every 30 mins into and out of the city (goes to Porte Maillot where you can easily connect to the centre on public transport). Return shuttle cost us 15 euro for 5 of us. Its clean, modern, was never full and is punctual. |Site was lovely and nice to be a wooded area after a busy day in the city, lovely spot by the river. We found some deck chairs where we sat overlooking the river for a while which was nice. |The park was lovely, my 11 year old said maybe more suitable for younger kids but he had his football so was happy there. Lots of kids around playing which was nice for him. |The reception was open from 0700 - helpful staff, quick check in/out process and staff happy to answer any questions. They spoke excellent English. |The restaurant was good. Not the cheapest but good food, suitable for kids and a good variety of drinks available. Restaurant open til 2200 and the bar til 2300. |The shop on site was useful. Its open til 2130 and sells fresh bakery products, fruit/veg, drinks incl alcohol, gifts/souvenirs and children's games. Again, not the cheapest but handy to have on site. The fresh/warm croissants/pain au chocolat/baguettes for breakfast each morning were the best! |The chalet was great, the terrace was huge and lovely to sit out on but be warned about bugs! We were bitten loads and I'm sure it was sitting out there at night!|The chalet slept 6 (Columbia). We had 2 adults and 3 kids (2 of which are adult sized) and it was fine but another person would have been a squeeze. Only one bathroom/toilet slowed things down getting ready in the mornings (especially with a teenage daughter!!) but the bathroom was clean the shower once we'd queued for it was great! |Beds were comfortable. We all slept well, even my daughter on the sofa bed. Previous reviews mention the site being loud at night, but we did not have any issues and could only hear some quiet road noise and the occasion siren, certainly nothing to cause us an issue. |Kitchen was functional but no kettle available, so for us Brits needing cups of tea we had to boil water on the hob but his was not really a massive issue. |Overall, a really lovely stay. Would happily stay here again if we return to Paris but maybe would get the slightly bigger chalet with 3 bedrooms. Site is great for families and also for those who want to be close to the city but want to come back to a quieter environment in...
