I’m from the USA and our healthcare system is very different so I will only be reviewing things that I felt the hospital can directly control: People service (was horrible) Facility (was dirty)
I was ran over by a guy on an electric bike leading to a broken and displaced right ankle.
Nursing care was horrible and non-existent. After being dropped off by the ambulance, I was checked in within 15 minutes but did not see a nurse for 2 hours. I kept flagging random people for pain meds and everyone would say, I’m not your nurse or let me get your nurse yet no one would come. Even when I saw my nurse after 2 hours, I DID NOT get any meds for another 1.5 hours until the medical student came by and he was the one who convinced the doctor to come see me and give me pain meds (3.5 hours later). This was literally the theme for my entire 16 hour stay. Nursing never came by unless I flagged multiple people. Even just getting some water was impossible!
MD Care: I would said the MD care was ok. Communication was lacking (they did not update me on plan of care) but their bedside manners were significantly better than the nurses. My ankle did have to be reduced twice because it was not done properly the first time. This was the main reason I opted to wait on surgery until I got back into the states. I didn’t fully trust the care there.
The facility was also very dirty and not handicap friendly. Their elevator will not accommodate a wheelchair so I had to take the elevator up and down without a wheelchair. The bathrooms were dirty and even the patient rooms were dirty. This would not fly in the US and I would imagine France would not tolerate...
Read moreI was recently hospitalised for an operation, I found the doctors and nurses very kind however the people at reception are not friendly at all , particularly this lady, probably in her 50s with vision glasses on. I approached her to help me with the information to avail the taxi service ( which a patient is entitled to and is being paid by Social security) and since my French langage skills is not good, I opted to talk to her in English, she could converse in English but she kept arguing with me that I am lying about not being able to speak french. Even though it’s not her job, I choose to be nice and insisted that I am not comfortable in speaking French, she asked me for my cart-vital just to prove her point to me that I have lived enough time in France to be able to speak French. Instead of helping me find a taxi, she kept arguing and accusing me of lying. I was in pain and could not stand there arguing with her so I opted to just leave after letting her know that she is not being nice. I could still hear her arguing and probably cursing while I was leaving. Later, I regretted not noting down her name so I could complain to the management of hospital. A lady probably in her late 50s, of black origin and wears vision glasses ( explaining her features since I didn’t write down her name) I hope not other patients have had the...
Read moreThe hospital entrance is too far to walk from the train station if you are in an injured state. The hospital itself isn't very accessible, given that accessibility should be the number 1 priority for a hospital. Being right next to a train station doesn't help if there is no direct access to the hospital with a accessible entrance with minimal walking. Secondly, the emergency room is on the second floor, not at ground level or at entrance. One has to navigate a labyrinth to get there, which defeats the purpose of it being an ER. Thirdly, nobody cares about you. I took an ailing friend who couldn't even walk, and nobody would proactively tend to her. She had to ask for a wheelchair to be provided, and nobody would come to help us. We had a lot of luggage as we had just landed in Paris and needed to go there as she couldn't even walk because of an infection she contracted on the journey. I had a terrible experience at this hospital. I am from India but live in Paris, and even hospitals in tier 3 cities in a developing country like India provide better care and service than this posh Parisian hospital. They may not be as clean, posh or well equipped, but the service is way better. This hospital is an embarrassment to Paris and France, unless the others are...
