I heard about this restaurant from a co-worker who tried it out first. The restaurant was called "Kumo" before, and I'm kind of curious why the name was changed, as the old name is still on the wall. The interior decor is lovely, and the moment we arrived, we were tended to very quickly. We also reserved way in advance since we saw that the place was pretty famous on social media.

You get to order 7 articles off the menu for a maximum of 7 rounds. My partner and I only got to 3 and were incredibly full by then. You order via tablet as well, which is miles better than ordering with paper slips.

First off, this is the only place I know that sells lobster as a buffet. It was my first time trying it, though I wished it was covered in cheese, like other dishes. There are options to remove certain ingredients for certain dishes, but not all of them. The lobster could've shone much better if it wasn't covered in too much cheese.

The foie gras sushi was overwhelming. It does not go well with salmon, and foie gras feels wrong on rice. The grilled cod was doused in too much sauce and too much bell peppers. The tamago sushi wasn't very good. The angus sushi was interesting but I was disappointed by the amount of cheese which masked the meat's taste. Some of the dishes are also a bit over the top with too much truffle.

The good points: The sashimi was delicious and served on some ice. Miso soup was also good, not too salty like a lot of ordinary Japanese restaurants serve them in Paris. My favorite of all the dishes was the octopus. Tender, well-cooked, flavorful, and just how I like my octopus.

The service was extremely fast and staff were very friendly. Although, I do recommend perhaps using smaller plates for certain items to save space on the table and to help employees with the load. :)

Overall though, I feel like you won't find another buffet as interesting as at Kasumi. Was it worth the price for us? I'd say it was okay. A solid experience but not a place I would come back to very soon. Maybe on a special occasion. Thank you for...

This is, unfortunately, the first negative review I’ve ever felt compelled to write — but the experience at this place left me no choice.

Let me start by saying the food was good, maybe even great… but none of it mattered after the way my friend and I were treated. From the very beginning, the service was cold, rigid, and frankly, disrespectful. A stern woman — who seemed more interested in giving orders than offering hospitality — told us to wait in line, pointing with authority exactly where we had to stand. We complied, only for her to come back moments later and bark that we were in the wrong line. Excuse me?

Still, we stayed. We ordered the 40€ menu per person, which turned out to be way more food than we could possibly eat. So naturally, we asked if we could get a takeaway box. That same woman — the one who already corrected us with such self-importance — told us yes, but that we’d have to pay for it. Not one or two euros. Almost 7€ for a flimsy cardboard box. I’ve never in my life been asked to pay that much for a takeaway container.

But it gets worse. She informed us that if we refused to pay for the box, we would be penalized 10€ per person. Yes, you read that right. Penalized. For not finishing the food we had already paid for. When I questioned this absurd logic — reminding her that we had, in fact, paid for the full menu and all the food that came with it — she had the audacity to say: “You paid for the menu, not to waste food.”

I’m sorry — what?! So now diners are being fined for not overeating? Or for simply trying not to waste food by taking it home?

The entire situation was surreal. And absolutely appalling. I will never return to a restaurant where I’m mistreated, humiliated, and slapped with surprise charges at the end of my meal. That woman single-handedly ruined what could’ve been a lovely culinary experience. If you care about being treated with basic respect, I strongly suggest you take your appetite — and your dignity...
