We bought online tickets for the whole family. When we arrived at the zoo we were told that it was too crowdy and that they do not let anyone in anymore. This is already a pitty and had never experienced this in any other zoo. In addition Paris zoo is said to be not the best one anyhow. But ok. And then the trouble started: no refund. They offered alternative dates. Great, so we shall travel to Paris once more to visit the zoo???? Have they thought about the costs, the ecological footprint etc. And I am pretty sure - this zoo is not really worth a long travel etc. it is now 1,5 years that we aim to get a refund. Either they do not answer or they reject in an unfriendly way any request. So please check in advance if you can use your online tickets before buying them (yes, I know, hardly makes sense, except for those managing ticket refunds at the zoo).
The zoo organisation nicely responded here, sent me documents to fill out for a refund, and asked for bank account extracts etc. - ending with the feedback I bought the ticket on respective date at a time when the zoo was already closed. We bought the tickets in the afternoon, when the zoo was open, and the tickets clearly say that they are for that day. In any case, the nightmare became just more nightmarish after pretending here as if they were friendly and supportive. Also to add: we were some days later in the zoo in Thoiry, where we had to go by car. But it is simply great: a big area, activities for children, a lot of space, friendly personnel, etc. If you have the choice - Thoiry zoo is highly recommended in...
Read moreThe good stuff : So the zoo is big with a lot of beautiful scenery, the prices are not expensive entry is 20€ per adult , and the restaurants are not expensive thier is a variety of animals that you can get to know about and learn about, the monkey enclosure was the most visible but there are not enough observation points, i feel like the animals are comfortable even in captivity so this is a plus, the tickting staff talks english which is nice for tourists. the not really cool stuff: the most annoying thing is that out of the animals i was able to see about 50% the others are hiding or very far away specially the good ones, who ever designed the observation points and the zones was not planning this as a zoo at all, most of the info provided on tha animals are in french feeding time are per day in specific days only, so if you go on the wrong day you are goingto miss a lot, the glass for alot of the animals spically the aquarium is not clean at all the water is not clean you can barely see even if the seals are infront of you , the same goes for the reptiles area, the water is dirty barely saw the caiman and a tail of the anconda , so it is overall a fun day but don't get your hopes up it is mad this way so you go multiple times and maybe get lucky every time to see something different than your previous visit and even something...
Read moreI went to the zoo because some friends from London wanted to find out about the conservation work they were doing. There were a lot of animals and the park itself was clean and beautiful. However, for the larger animals such as the big cats, giraffe, rhino, zebra, and gibbons, the enclosures were so, so small and would leave the animals totally unable to practice their natural behaviours. One of the wolves showed clear signs of stress. Some young children were allowed to mess around, preventing one wolf from looking out. The wolf rocked from side to side on his front feet as if he had stereotypies, licking his snout, and was clearly unhappy. Once again, the enclosure was way too small (maybe European standards need to review their recommendations) to allow for many natural behaviours. Those designing the environmental enrichment of the animal living areas have clearly done their best, but they can't change the size of the enclosures. The zoo needs fewer animals and improved living conditions. I don't want to criticise people who I'm sure are absolutely doing their best, but in honesty, I found the zoo...
