Le château de Chantilly: Wonderful experience and tour. The castle is so beautiful and has such a rich history. It’s been owned and renovated several times from previous French leaders and princes, which is reflected in the art work and room item architecture. This castle was interesting since it’s not as old as other châteaux that I have visited so that was a treat. Musée du Cheval: Along with the tour of the entire castle and the chapelle, we were also able to visit the Musée du cheval (The Horse Museum) which is near the castle on the left side of the grounds. This was my favorite experience since we got to visit the horse Écuries (stables) and the actual horses. There were horseback riders presenting their horses and their tricks, too. Food: There was a nice café, which was a nice place to relax and take a break. This café is located near the stables. I purchased the day pass which included both the castle tour and the horse museum, so if you want to visit both, be sure to purchase the correct ticket for the entire grounds. On the grounds of the actual castle, there is a fancy restaurant to eat at. It’s a bit more expensive but it seems worth it! Kid-Friendly: Definitely kid friendly and there are several fun activities and informational videos in...
Read moreIf you are in the region, a visit to this Chateau is a must. You are guaranteed not to be dissapointed. You need a whole day to visit the Chateau and its grounds. We never got to see the grounds as we needed to use the mini train and it left before we could get back from the afternoon spectacle at the stables. There is plenty of parking, though the signs for parking 1, when we went on the 15th October, sent you into the little village next to the stables. Parking 1 is for the handicapped, so make sure you check your directions before you arrive, we found it when we left. Note that everything has to be paid for, parking, the train, the chateau vist, the stables and the equestrian show. We took a picnic, but there are restaurants in the village and in the Chateau. The art collection is 2nd to that of the Louvre, but so much more accesible, it was fantastic to stand and admire painters such as Rembrant. The chateau and its grounds are pristine, the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. I have limited mobility and use aids (not a wheelchair) and whilst the gorunds and stables a accessible to wheel chair users, the Chateau requires a little more thinking as there are steps. This however should not put you off visitng an absolute gem of a...
Read moreA great castle, with nice architecture and a large art collection. Complete interiors as well as a valuable art collection are exhibited. The art collection makes up the majority of the exposition. There was also an excellent exhibition of furniture by André Charles Boulle during our visit. The audio guide was also good. The park is on a large territory, and to explore it, I recommend renting an electric car at the entrance gate. The park did not surprise visually with anything very special, but apparently on a guided tour, hearing explanations and stories, the tour there is significantly more exciting. We didn't go everywhere in the park and only stopped a few times to take pictures, but it took us 1 hour by car. NB! When renting an electric car, payment is made only by card and a deposit of €500 is taken, which was promised to be released within a week, it has been 6 days now and it is still deposited. Why do they have to hold onto the money for so long, what claims do they expect during the week (parking and speeding fines?). We didn't get to go to the stables NB! It is stated on the internet that the castle restaurant is open all day, but at 15:00 we couldn't eat there because the waiter said they were...
