This is not a hoax and it does exist (see my photos). Most likely it is a constructed cave and the museum has one light in there so you can see what it looks like. It is hard find but you can do it using Google Maps. You will see some primitive paths where GPS has taken others to find it. There is a more formal trail built by the museum but it is hard to find the entrance for it. After all of that, there really isn't much to see. The most interesting thing to me is that Marie A. was interested in grotto's at all.

My friend and I originally went to the Versailles gardens with no intention to go tour the Trianon. However, when she said she loved Marie Antoinette I immediately searched how far it was and realized it was just a walk away. We only intended to see Marie Antoinette’s Cottage but instead we got a wonderful tour of the Trianon and don’t regret it at all. It was wonderful!

My favourite place when visiting the estate of Versailles. I visited the Palace of Versailles the Grand Trianon the Petit Trianon and finally Marie Antoinette’s hamlets. It really brings you into a different world and allows you to get a feeling of the more bucolic life outside of the blinding grandeur of the Palace of Versailles. The aesthetic coherency was...
