My sister, brother and I recently spent 4 nights at the Villa Uhlenburg in Weisser Hirsch. Our mother grew up in this area and we wanted to explore it. We each had an apartment - 2 of the apartments (11&12) were very large and elegant, with lovely windows, antique furniture and paintings and fully fitted kitchens. Apartment 12 was large enough for the 3 of us to have breakfast and an evening meal together. The third room, 13, was much smaller in comparison and not quite as nice in terms of decoration, although the same price. We loved staying in Weisser Hirsch, it is a 20-30 minute tram ride to the centre of Dresden and was an oasis of tranquility to return to after a busy day in the city. The surrounding villas are beautiful and the area very leafy and green. It was a joy to walk around. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and it was really nice to have a kitchen - we would definitely go back. One small issue - during our visit there was a family with small children staying above us who were very noisy. We could all hear children screaming and running across the wooden floors until late at night. There seemed to be a problem with sound proofing and perhaps the owners could consider some carpets upstairs to...
Read moreStopped here for two nights during a tour of Germany. The apartment is in a smart and upmarket suburb of Dresden, about 25 minutes on a tram or bus from the centre of the city (old town) or 15 minutes from the new town and then a 10 minute walk. Weisser Hirsch has a number of small restaurants and shops, but the city is in easy reach thanks to the regular bus service.||||The building is very smart in an old fashioned way. We had an apartment on the top floor which, whilst small, was clean and well furnished. Basic cooking facilities are provided as well as a smart and well appointed bathroom with shower and stunning views across the city.||||This was great value for when we visited in the height of summer and provided you are happy to have a short traveltime into Dresden, this is a really good choice if you are exploring the city but want some peace and quiet. We even noticed some residents having a BBQ outside and if you are staying a longer period this is good for socialising.||||Well recommended for a...
Read moreI spent 3 nights here during -10 weather, it was so warm and cosy I loved it, I had a studio on the ground floor which was a lovely big room at the back of the Villa, a kitchen and beautiful bathroom, it was an easy tram No 11 from the main train station. The area is pretty and safe. When you get off the tram and cross the road to walk to the Villa, there is a lovely, fresh supermarket with all that you need for a self catering stay, also a beer and alcohol shop next to that. The place is immaculate, and the kitchen has everything you need, there are many cable tv channels and the bathroom has lovely toiletries and loads of hot water for relaxing showers and baths. I really enjoyed my stay here and would stay again. Sebastian was very welcoming, friendly and was there to provide any information that you may need. The downsides are no wifi, and also when I stayed it was super quiet, only 1 or 2 others around the place, so I imagine it would get really noisy...
