Gotha Castle Museum — Attraction in Gotha

Beautiful baroque style castle built in the mid 1600's (West wing completed 1648, East Wing 1650, Great Hall in East tower 1656). Can see all four exhibitions in €10 (as of May 19, 2019). Taking photos are prohibited unless you purchase a €5 pass in the north wing, where the principle living rooms were. Buy an English guide book called "Castle Friedenstein Your" for €3 at the museum shop before you go as the descriptions inside don't really explain much in English. Definitely there is much to see, especially if you are into art, paintings and baroque castles. However, there is too little information in English, so if you are a non-German speakers, you will have problems. Many of the staff members did not speak any English. Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Obwohl an dem Tag das Theater schon gegen 13 Uhr für Museumsbesucher geschlossen wurde, da eine Festlichkeit anstand, dürften wir noch 10 Minuten vor Besuchsende das Theater betreten. Die Austellung ist interessant gestaltet und hat sich zu meinem letzten Besuch vor 15-20 Jahren gewandelt. Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. Auch am Wochenende. Beim Ticketkauf sollte darauf geachtet werden, welches Ticket man sich holt. Mit dem Kombiticket kann man auch die Gemälde-Galerie anschauen. Wir hatten das einfache Ticket.
