The museum itself is very interesting and worth a visit. The exhibitions are engaging and definitely recommend!! but the ticket counter experience felt like stepping into absurdity. When we asked if there were any special exhibitions, the lady replied with a patronizing: “Of course, this is a museum.” She also assured us that one ticket covered everything… until we crossed into another section and were told to pay again. The highlight? Asking if there was a section for local artists. She looked at us as if we’d just asked for UFOs and lost her mind: “There are no local artists here.” Well, in a city of 300K+ people, I’d bet otherwise. Karlsruhe, keep nurturing your own artists. we’d love to see their work shine!

Love this place in the centre of Karlsruhe. Interactive exhibits for all the family. We could have easily stayed over 2 hours here. I've been here several times and it has been worth it every time. My girls (10,13) were fascinated by the technology on show and had great fun manipulating the exhibits to produce noises, lights and images. It is not expensive to see the special exhibition (€14,50 for 2 adults, 2 kids). If you are into media art this is the place for you - introduce the kids to a typewriter - but in a clever arty way. The exhibits are described in German and English. ZKM has been labelled the 5th most important media museum in the world. There is a carpark adjacent and good public transport connections.

One of the coolest and most informative museums i have ever visited... all sorts of cool, funky and artsy futuristic contraptions. The museum focuses mainly on telecommunication technologies, their history, development and future. All of the explanations are in English so you won't have any translation problem. On the 2nd floor is the real hidden gem (in fact you can skip the whole museum just to go to this wing if you are short of time): a must-see and must-play gaming section where they chronicled the history of game consoles. You can play all of the game consoles (yes classic games like the very first mario in old-school nintendo gameboy).... and some newer games they designed specifically for the museum.

See this place was highly recommended to me by locals as being of amazement to kids and adults alike. But me being me not checking the opening hours properly end up in front of closed doors on a sunny Saturday morning. Therefore I can only tell you about the pretty piece of green grass next to the entrance. Thanks to other buildings the lawn is cut of off the street noise. You here the birds chirping and the grass growing. Fair enough, Saturday mornings you can watch a group of Karlsruhers train there dogs and they have just the happiest medium-sized dogs imaginable. Eager to learn, eager to play, eager to hump. I spent an hour in what appears the most wild nature to any city dweller, some lawn, watching humans and doggies interact for the cheer joy of it. I can only recommend the...
