Rheinsteig St. Goar - Kestert — Attraction in Loreley

Beautiful stretch of the Rheinsteig. Coming from St Goarshausen it starts off with a very steep climb up the hill towards Burg Maus. Once the initial climb is behind you, the rest of the 12k to Kestert is a piece of cake. A few more climbs en route, but nothing like the start. Along the way there are gorgeous views of the Rhein, castles, vineyards and forests. Once arrived in Kestert it is an easy trainride back to St Goarshausen. Trains go mostly once per hour (20 minutes past the hour) and as there is no ticket machine at the station the tickets can be bought on the train, which takes you back in 10 minutes, after a 4...

A great and not particularly difficult hike, with beautiful views of the Rhine, the villages and castles. Just before you reach Burg Maus, don't miss the optional but stunning view point (there is a sign) over the burg. And instead of following the Rheinsteig all the way to Kestert, leave it and follow the sign for the Pulsbachklamm (a canyon approx. 2km before Kestert). After descending through the Klamm, you reach Kestert by following the main road. This also shortened the hike somewhat. We missed that, but a villager told us about it. But that's only a good reason to come...

A very interesting hiking place, you should wear a good shoes and protect yourself from UV in summer. Here has a lot easy climbing parts, can make the trip more plentiful.
