A must-see when in Passau! Veste Oberhaus, former stronghold of Passau’s prince-bishops, sits high above the town and includes a museum, restaurant and watchtower with a panoramic viewpoint of the town and the three Rivers Confluence. The main museum is filled with fascinating exhibits from the history of the castle, to architecture comparisons, to medieval battles to a traveling exhibit from Japan on paper making. Tickets at the entrance were only 5 Euros, which is a steal for this great attraction, and covered access to the entire compound. There is a small shuttle between the castle drawbridge and the Passau town square that costs 1.6 Euros each way. The shuttle is great as the castle sits atop a steep hill. Note: The bus shuttle didn’t show up on one of the designated pickup times so we opted to walk (~12 minutes).

Quite some improvements than the last time we went inside a few years ago. There are many ongoing exhibitions right now. But it's pity that two of the exhibitions are closed today when we went there. It's a bit boring for kids though, almost nothing to experience. If they could just set up some more interactive installations for kids to try and play, that would be even better. Some spots in the castle are the best to enjoy the awesome view of the old town. Don't miss it!

Pay for the van ride up to the top and walk back down. Van picks you up in front of Lowenbrau Bar on the street along the river. Views are amazing! You get to see the color difference of the 3 rivers as they merge. Go later in the day and crowds not bad at all, felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Museum was an excellent quality display of what it was like to live there way back when as it evolved over the years.

Steep walk up from the main road, but it's possible to drive all the way up. Getting a park might be a gamble but there were lots of spots when i visited. Good views up top and the restaurant is quite nice, but i didnt eat there. It isn't breathtaking or anything exceptionally unique but still worth a visit. I would say more so if you plan on eating at the restaurant with the view.

Super schön! You should definitely visit the Veste Oberhaus if you are in Passau. The view is mesmerizing and easy to get there, even for people with reduced mobility there is a bus. You can find a restaurant on the top but you should know it is not going to be cheap. There is also a museum and you can enjoy the view from many angles. Entrance costs 0 EUR and it is open 24/7.

Great views of Passau from this side of the two rivers including the Danube. Well worth a visit by taking the museum bus from the square in front of the town hall in Passau or walk across the bridge and up the hill.its a little bit of a climb up the stairs be careful as it has lots of loose rocks. The photo opportunities are really great. It’s a most when in Passau.
